I knew this was going to happen. Detroit players weren't responding anymore. Wings organization honestly didn't want him anymore. He was just punching in and punching out on the time clock day in and day out. Doing too many Dove commercials. Babcock is a clown.

The wings wanted him but for 4 years tho. First of hes canadian and probaly wanted to go back to where hockey rules the land. Then there's the city of Detroit which for sure couldn't keep him their with all their abandon buildings and highest murder rate in the country. In his press conference he kept saying next chapter and this was a family decision. So why not get paid a ton get a contract longer then you actually need and try to revive a dead team and be a hero. Sounds like a good retirement plan to me.

What would be funny is if Toronto got a new expansion 2nd team, and they won the cup before the Leafs...

I don't know what it really was? But any coach in the NHL would love to coach the Wings in a new arena which is right around the corner. Babcock knew the team was old news to him.... he's still an ahole though. He's had plenty of enough talent... couldn't win anymore BIG GAMES.

The leafs have a lot of problems, and a good coach won't solve those anytime soon.

They will be (and should be for their own good), a bottom 5 team again this year.

Anyone who thinks a coach can make enough of a difference to justify $6.25 million/year is foolish.

You couldn't say it any better MoneyShot ..... COULDNT WIN THE BIG GAMES. Hes had plenty of talent since the 08 year and hasnt cashed in so i will like to see how he does with little talent and a farm team that just making the top20. I love Toronto fans and cub fans, always cheering for a losing team. Perfect example for the leafs they just needed to coast at .500 from mid January and on, to make it to the 2014 playoffs and couldn't hold it together. Babs has a lot of work ahead of him for a team that has only been bleeding players and a Canadian fan base that only expect the cup.

talk about overpaying, hockey doesnt have the money other sports have, timing just doesnt seem right for hockey to have a coach sign for that amount .... maybe there s pain money in there for the pain he ll endure building the team

He wanted more time off at the end of the season to spend with his family. Detroit makes playoffs. Less time for family

What most don't know here, there are stats that show that without Z and Datsyuk, that is games that they missed, the team still out possessing their opponents every game around 55%, most teams do not do that especially without their top guys. They also place in top ten every year in corsi

Buffalo is for different reasons, if you can't get past what you've been previously told about it you won't see the difference, it's actually one of nations Top places 25-35 year olds are moving, it has a great outer harbor that has drastically changed, and as long as you live in the suburbs, it's actually wonderful
