    I might have figured this out on my own. It looks like Covers is mixing in halves with whole games. You'd think that someone would have noticed and complained; well, I guess they did but no one cleaned up the old data. I should be able to take a crack at cleaning up what I have if (a) they include totals or (b) the lines are sufficiently large.

    Ah, the joy of data management!

    Hey Matt, thanks for the pointer. I also found what I thought might be another good source: http://sportsbookreviewsonline.com/. I did spot, however, what sees to be a problem with the opening/closing lines in at least some of the NCAAB data and am exchanging emails with the site owner to see if we can pin this down. Until then, I'm a little leery to use this data. (Yeah, I know, it should be "these data".)

    I have been messing around with some iPhone apps and will probably be purchasing the Sports Insights data pretty soon. Got a couple new ideas besides my latest app. I will let yall know how the data looks, and I will PM you Miz.

    I am going to be purchasing a CBB DB soon. I was looking at KOstats. It sounds like a good DB, and sells for $500. Does anyone have any experience with this one? Are the closing lines accurate? The DB goes back to 2001.

    How about the sportsinsights DB? I am not interested in percentages of who bet which side, what I want is accurate closing lines (something which does not appear to be available for free). Is the sportsinsights DB good for this? And it is $200?

    One final thing... I want to suggest that SBR contact these types of sites and begin to offer DBs in the SBR store. They can have someone like Justin7 look at a sample and decide which ones to offer...

    KOstats does look to be more comprehensive than Sports Insights, but it is also much more expensive. Sports Insights is $100 per sport or $200 for all sports. KOstats looks to be $1400 for all sports and $200-$500 per sport. Only thing that worries me is how out of date the KOstats website is. Looks like it was made in the late 90s.

    Any idea which book they use for their opening/closing lines?

    According to the person I've been communicating with, Nathan, "The data comes from various sportsbooks. There is a lot from 5dimes, bookmaker/cris and betjamaica".

    Incidentally, he fixed a problem that I found, caused by a gap in the rotation, very quickly after I reported it. It looks like at least some if not all of my other problems are on my side. I'm still going over the data but haven't run into any new problems yet.

    why not sbrodds? lines for ncaab go back to 2007-2008 for each book.

    Bookmaker.com? That was seized on May 23, 2011. They now use bookmaker.eu - you can still login with the same info, etc.

    www.sbrodds.com then click the link yesterday at the top right. Then just change the date in the address bar for whatever day you want. Click on each line for each book to see line movements.

    thanks didn't know that, that is definitely a nice way to look at that data for spot checking. though i would really be wanting some sort of xml or json feed of that data.
