Hack, in the "appropriate application of ingenuity" sense.

I'm thinking it might be fun to put together a list of the SBR Sportsbook results for the posters in Players Talk. It might be interesting to see who can actually win a bit and who are the inveterate blowhards.

Could have lifetime and 'recent' lists.

Below is my rough outline of how it might be done. If you've any ideas on how to improve the concept or maybe want to contribute let me know and we could throw together a project on github.

Outline:
-Scrape all the recent posters from the first few pages of Players Talk. Could do the subforums as well.
-Links to the points pages of the posters are all there. Put into a set to eliminate the many duplicates.
-Use a headless browser to isolate sportsbook transactions.
-Scrape the win/loss data and sort it out
-Post the results in PT and have a giggle.

Tools (provisional):
Python 2.7.11
BeautifulSoup (scraping)
Selenium w/ Phantom JS (to get the points data).

We could even put the code up as a tutorial for those in the Tank that want help with scraping odds and the like.

Given the furor of a suspected hack recently, this was an interesting choice for the title of this thread..... a good way to get permanently "scrapped" from the site....

not a hack per se, but a strain of it, was allegedly thought to have happened when a member uploaded a photo that apparently, unknown to the member, must have had some phishing malware imbedded in it somehow....

initially, a six month ban was imposed, but that was lifted after sbr further investigated the issue and determined the malware was inadvertent, and not an intentional effort to do something shady by the user.....
