    betting on heavy favorites

In which sport do heavy favorites have the greatest probability of winning and the least likelihood of being upset? Baseball, football, basketball? And is there a difference between the college and pro leagues?

the chances of winning are directly linked to the line for that game, no matter the sport

Basketball would get my vote. One turnover in a football game or one swing of the bat in baseball can change a whole game. But it takes a lot of back and forth action in basketball for a good team to be beat.

Bad NBA teams rarely beat the elite ones when the better team is at home.

If you say so, thread title says heavy favorites (ohio state -590 yesterday) Pryor would probably make one hell of a Shooting Guard

I think baseball would be worst for this. Football best, carefully done.

Probably should've stuck with basketball considering how this QB thing is turning out for him.

Doesn't happen often with teams like Barcelona/Real/Chelsea/Arsenal and United.

How often does that happen? Will that cost them a chance in the Knockout Stage? No it won't.

the more points scored in a game the better chance the best team wins, soccer baseball hockey = any team can score 1-0 and win the game, basketball tends to let more scoring oppurtunities with the best team (hopefully) scoring more.

Moneylines are not always based on the spread even within the same sport.

For example, compare the moneyline of a 16 point dog in NBA basketball early in the season as compared to late in the season.

The 16 point dog might be +1500 early in the season and can be +3000 or higher late in the season once eliminated from playoff contention.

However, with few (if any) exceptions, the larger the favorite, the better chance of them winning.

Not strictly Aussie or Euro, I have seen that option at North American books. I prefer 3-ways myself, but sometimes the 2-way does have value.

Soccer. Heavy favorites rarely lose unless there is a fix.

I agree, soccer is a nightmare especially when you are not familiar with it. I play light bets on soccer during the week sometimes, but only after studying and research and usually only making one play at a time.
