    Post-Draft NFL News per Footballguys.com

CLE - QB still an issue in Cleveland?
    Source: ESPN.com - Pat McManamon
Cleveland Browns head coach Mike Pettine doesn't seem overly concerned with the Browns' current state at quarterback. Pettine said the quarterback position isn't the only position that wins football games. QBs Josh McCown, Johnny Manziel, Thaddeus Lewis and Connor Shaw are currently on Cleveland's roster.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Of course QB is still an issue for the Browns...go ahead and remove the question mark from the headline. McCown is a journeyman starter and no long-term answer for Cleveland. Manziel is a great unknown because of his unorthodox skill set, bad rookie season and entrance into rehab this offseason. Lewis and Shaw are no more than reserve players at best. This team is built to run the ball, and we're not expecting much fantasy value to be had from their passing game.

TB - Charles Sims likely to be featured
    Source: PewterReport.com
Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims is likely to be featured in the offense this season.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
The team is moving on from Doug Martin. They did not pick up Martin's fifth-year option, so he will be a free agent in 2016. The Bucs want to see what Sims can be as a featured back, and fantasy owners need to take notice. Coming out of college (West Virginia, Houston), Sims was a player often compared to Matt Forte (Bears) because of his ability as a runner and receiver out of the backfield.

CIN - TE Tyler Eifert will be ready for camp
Source: The Cincinnati Enquirer - Jim Owczarski
Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (elbow, shoulder) said he will be able to fully participate once training camp begins. Eifert has been running routes and catching passes as part of his rehab.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Good news for the Bengals here. They went ahead and added Tyler Kroft (Rutgers) in the third round of the 2015 NFL draft to improve their depth at the position. We love Eifert's upside, but he's got to start staying healthy and producing at the expected level. In two pro seasons, Eifert only has 42 catches, 482 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns. That's not what the team was expecting when they selected him in the first round of the 2013 NFL draft.

BAL - TE Dennis Pitta not in Ravens' future?
    Source: ESPN.com - Jamison Hensley
Baltimore Ravens TE Dennis Pitta (hip) may have an unclear future in Baltimore if he is even able to play next season. TE Maxx Williams was selected in the second round and is primed to take over Pitta's role if necessary.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
When the Ravens selected Williams, it was a sign that Pitta could be done in the NFL. The hip injury he suffered is career threatening, and there's no guarantee that he ever plays football again. Williams was our favorite tight end in this year's draft, and he plays like a young Jason Witten (Cowboys).

ATL - No talks between WR Julio Jones, ATL
    Source: ESPN.com - Vaughn McClure
Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones has not had any contract extension talks with the team at this time, but general manager Thomas Dimitroff said extending Jones is one of the team's priorities.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Jones is set to be an unrestricted free agent in 2016. If the Falcons don't want to lose him, then they need to sign him to a new contract. They could also place the franchise tag on Jones next offseason. That number was $12.823 million for receivers this season.

CIN - Cedric Ogbuehi may begin on PUP list
    Source: Bengals.com - Geoff Hobson
Cincinnati Bengals OT Cedric Ogbuehi (knee) could start the regular season on the Physically Unable to Perform list, which would keep him out for at least the first six weeks of the season.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
The Bengals knew this when they selected Ogbuehi in the first round of the 2015 NFL draft. He injured his knee in the Aggies bowl game, and it's probably best for him to start the season shut down. On the PUP list, Ogbuehi would be forced out of action for the first six weeks of the season. After that, the team would have three weeks to determine whether or not to activate him or put him on season-ending Injured Reserve.

MIN - Two options picked up
    Source: FOXSports.com - Alex Marvez
Minnesota Vikings OT Matt Kalil and FS Harrison Smith had their fifth-year options for 2016 exercised Monday, May 4.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Kalil will continue to give the Vikings a strong presence on the offensive line with the extra year added to his deal. Smith has developed into a quality player for the Vikings and it's no surprise they didn't want him to hit free agency.

TB - RB Doug Martin's option not picked up
Source: The Tampa Tribune - Roy Cummings
Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin will be an unrestricted free-agent in 2016 after the team decided not to exercise his fifth-year player option Monday, May 4.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Things have changed with Martin over the last couple of years. Mainly, he's struggled to stay healthy and impress when on the field. In 16 games as a rookie, Martin rushed for almost 1,500 yards (with almost 500 receiving yards) and looked like a star on the rise. Since then, Martin has played in 17 games over the last two years and hasn't rushed for 1,000 yards combined during that time. He'll have to see if a fresh start can help him get his career back on track next offseason.

OAK - WR James Jones released
    Source: CSNBayArea.com - Scott Bair
Oakland Raiders WR James Jones was released Sunday, May 3.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
This move saves the Raiders $3.5 million on the cap. Jones was getting squeezed out by the additions of Michael Crabtree through free agency and the selection of Amari Cooper in the 2015 NFL draft. We can't imagine Jones attracting a ton of interest on the open market, but he should be able to make a training camp roster.

HOU - OLB Whitney Mercilus signs extension
Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport
Houston Texans LB Whitney Mercilus signed a four-year contract extension worth $26 million Monday, May 4. The deal includes $10.5 million in guaranteed money.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Instead of picking up his fifth-year option, the Texans went ahead and got a long-term deal done with Mercilus. He may not be the pass-rusher many envisioned when he came out of Illinois in 2012, but he's a strong run-defender and obviously a key piece to what Houston does defensively.

SEA - OLB Bruce Irvin's option won't be picked up
    Source: ESPN.com - Terry Blount
Seattle Seahawks LB Bruce Irvin will not have his fifth-year option picked up by the Seahawks, and Irvin was not happy about the decision, sending out several profane tweets Monday, May 4. The option would have paid him $7.8 million in 2016.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
This move was expected. Irvin will play the 2015 season at $1.5 million and become a free agent after the season. Head coach Pete Carroll said the team still hopes to re-sign the talented pass-rusher.

I wonder how JJ likes his career - post Rodgers.

Is Martin the biggest 2 week wonder in NFL history?

not hear to judge that - I like money as well - he is now fired from his team because he looked bad because his qb sucked - he'd still be catching 10+ tds a season with rodgers and could end up making more money.

He only caught 10+ TDs once in 7 seasons with GB. He had 6 TDs, 666 yards with OAK about the same as he did in GB.

    Wednesday, 5/6 Update

ARI - QB Carson Palmer does drills
    Source: AZCardinals.com - Kyle Odegard
Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (knee) participated in on-field drills with the team Monday, May 4. He handed the ball off to the running backs and threw short, intermediate and deep throws to his receivers. While the action wasn't close to replicating game-like conditions, Palmer said joining the rest of the team on the field was a big mental boost after missing the last eight games of the 2014 season.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Great news for the Cardinals here. They just aren't the same without Palmer, and they need him if they want to make a big push for the postseason again this year.

TEN - TEN offense tailored to Marcus Mariota
    Source: NFL.com - Kevin Patra
Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota is having the playbook tailored to him after the Titans drafted him with the No. 2 overall pick last week, according to general manager Ruston Webster. 'Our coaches have been working on a plan for quite some time now for Marcus,' Webster said. 'Really to adapting our offense to his skill set -- he has a special skill set. There's really not much he can't do from a physical standpoint and he's very bright. That combination is going to allow him to do his own adapting to the NFL game but our coaches have worked very hard on coming up with a system within our system for Marcus. I think it will work well.'
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Good news for the young quarterback here. The offense needs to be crafted in order to keep things simple as Mariota learns a pro-style system. Coming from the Oregon offense, Mariota will have to learn things like taking a snap, going through progressions while dropping back and making stick throws into tight coverage. There will be a learning curve, but we like Mariota's work ethic and are intrigued by his future although we're worried about his surrounding cast.

CLE - QB Josh McCown the favorite to start for Browns
    Source: ESPN.com - Pat McManamon
Cleveland Browns QB Josh McCown is the favorite to start training camp as the team's starting quarterback, with head coach Mike Pettine saying 'it's fair to say.' QB Johnny Manziel struggled last year as a rookie and was in rehab for 10 weeks. McCown is the most experienced quarterback the team has on roster.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Manziel's struggles on and off the field will have to be worked through. McCown can step in and start right away while Manziel continues to develop his game. We're not looking for the Browns to do much through the air, and even their top wide receiver, Dwayne Bowe, isn't much of a fantasy option. We see Bowe currently as a WR5 for your fantasy team that will rarely see your starting lineup in traditional leagues.

BAL - RB Justin Forsett firmly grasping role
    Source: ESPN.com - Jamison Hensley
Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett has a firm grip on the lead running back role after the Ravens waited until the fourth round to select RB Javorius Allen in the 2015 NFL Draft.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Forsett can once again lead the way for the Ravens on the ground. Javorius (better known as 'Buck') Allen is more of a determined power back between the tackles with little creativity or big-play ability.

TB - Jameis Winston likely to start
    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Mike Florio
Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Jameis Winston will be given every chance to start in 2015. 'It's pretty difficult to say with a straight face that we're not going to give Jameis that opportunity to win it right away,' general manager Jason Licht told PFT Live on NBC Sports Radio. 'He's the first overall pick. We think he's very advanced in terms of his ability to play and pick up schemes and concepts and learn the playbook relative to most rookies, or any rookie we've scouted in recent history. So he's gonna have every opportunity.'
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
The Bucs didn't take him first overall to just sit on the bench. Winston has the capability to step in and start from day one. He's far from a finished product, but Winston has a skill set familiar to Ben Roethlisberger (Steelers). Winston should be able to flourish at times as a rookie with big targets on the outside like Mike Evans and Vincent Jackson.

CLE - QB Johnny Manziel in second spot
    Source: CBSCleveland.com - Keith Britton
Cleveland Browns QB Johnny Manziel is expected to open training camp as the No. 2 quarterback.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Zero surprise here. Manziel has a lot to prove after a rookie season that was unproductive and unimpressive. He entered rehab this offseason to deal with his alcohol problem, and now he's out to prove that he can make it in the NFL. Manziel has a ton of work to do in order to climb above McCown on the depth chart.

DAL - RB Chris Johnson wants to go to DAL
    Source: The Dallas Morning News
Free-agent RB Chris Johnson was recently stopped outside a Los Angeles restaurant by TMZ and was asked about the possibility of playing for the Dallas Cowboys. "I'd fit good in Dallas," Johnson said when asked if the Cowboys were a good option. "They need it. Yeah. That's what we're trying to do."
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Dallas could have interest, but we don't see them making a move for Johnson in the near future. At this time, all signs are pointing to Darren McFadden as their lead back. He's still incredibly talented, but McFadden has failed to produce up the expectations he had coming out of Arkansas years ago. McFadden struggles to stay healthy, and we don't think as the Cowboys starter his workload will match what DeMarco Murray had last season.

DAL - RB Joseph Randle has high expectations
Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport
Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle is expected to be a breakout star in 2015, according to the Cowboys organization.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Randle has high expectations, and he may be able to show what he's got. Right now, Randle is a backup behind Darren McFadden. However, McFadden's injury history reads like Infinite Jest and there's a good chance he'll get banged up again this year. That would open the door for Randle to be the team's starter. Running behind that monstrous offensive line, Randle could have success with that role.

MIN - WR Mike Wallace makes bold claim
    Source: ESPN.com
Minnesota Vikings WR Mike Wallace proclaimed himself the fastest player in the NFL Tuesday, May 5, per the Pioneer Press. 'If somebody feels foggy about that, we can [race]. I'm never going to back down from competition,'' said Wallace.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Awesome, he's fast....too bad he's not making the same claims about being the best wide receiver in the league. Wallace failed to connect with QB Ryan Tannehill during his time with the Dolphins. We'll see if he can establish better chemistry with second-year QB Teddy Bridgewater in Minnesota.

MIA - DeVante Parker to start for Miami?
    Source: Sun-Sentinel - Omar Kelly
Miami Dolphins WR DeVante Parker could start in his rookie season, according to Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. Kelly has Parker behind WR Jarvis Landry and ahead of WR Kenny Stills.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
We love the addition of Parker, and the Dolphins would be wise to get him into the starting lineup ASAP. Parker can fly down the field. He tracks the ball well and he does a good job of looking passes into his hands. With soft hands and elite concentration, Parker can make difficult catches seem routine. Parker could be everything that Mike Wallace (Vikings) wasn't for the Dolphins.

ARI - TE Troy Niklas due for big year?
    Source: AZCardinals.com - Darren Urban
Arizona Cardinals TE Troy Niklas has much expected from him this season, especially following the retirement of TE John Carlson.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
A big year? Arizona tight ends do next to nothing under head coach Bruce Arians. Last year, Carlson had a 'big year' with 33 catches for 350 yards and one touchdown. There are plenty of other teams we're plucking fantasy tight ends from, Arizona is not one of them.

CLE - RBs to catch more passes?
    Source: NFL.com - Marc Sessler
Cleveland Browns RBs Isaiah Crowell, Terrance West and Duke Johnson could be more involved in the passing game in 2015, according to offensive coordinator John DeFilippo. 'Let's see if they can catch the ball, run a slant, run a hitch, run a go, run a comeback,' DeFilippo said. 'I want to see if those guys can do those things because that's going to be a big part of the offense that I want to incorporate here.'
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Johnson can be used effectively as a receiver out of the backfield. Crowell is one of the most naturally instinctive runners in the league, and he should be the lead back in this RBBC. West is a power back and more of a reserve player behind Crowell. The Browns will use their running backs as much as possible to move the ball as they lack a quality quarterback and dangerous wide receivers.

KC - QB Terrelle Pryor released
    Source: ESPN - Adam Caplan
Kansas City Chiefs QB Terrelle Pryor was released Tuesday, May 5.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Pryor just isn't going to make it in the NFL. He's had multiple opportunities to prove himself as a passer in the pros, and Pryor has struggled. We can't imagine teams lined up to add him, and Pryor may have to go to Canada to continue his pro football career.

ARI - TE Jermaine Gresham a possibility for AZ?
Source: Yahoo! Sports - Charles Robinson
Former Cincinnati Bengals TE Jermaine Gresham (back) could be targeted by the Arizona Cardinals if he is medically cleared, according to Charles Robinson of Yahoo! Sports.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Gresham isn't cleared medically, and that's why he's currently without a team. Let's no go overboard with the connection to Arizona here. Yes, the Cardinals could have interest...and they may even bring the veteran on board. However, tight ends don't do much under head coach Bruce Arians and any Cardinals tight end isn't going to be much of a fantasy factor in 2015.

TB - Kenny Bell capable of starting?
    Source: PewterReport.com - Zach Shapiro
Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Kenny Bell could play a big role this year, according to general manager Jason Licht. 'His skill set is best for outside. He can stretch the field. He also has the experience of playing inside,' Licht said. 'We see him really making a push for contributing and playing a big role for us this year. He's got upside to be a starter as well.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Bell certainly has a different skill set from the starters in Tampa (Mike Evans, Vincent Jackson). The rookie can take the top off the defense, and that speed will make him a deep target for fellow rookie Jameis Winston. In addition to speed, Bell has great 'my ball' mentality and he will regularly win at the point of the catch. He's a good weapon to add for your dynasty team. Re-draft owners need to keep him on your waiver wire speed dial.

ARI - David Johnson to see red-zone work?
    Source: ESPN.com - Josh Weinfuss
Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson could be the man to beat for the No. 2 running back spot in Arizona, according to Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com. Johnson would primarily play in red-zone and third-down situations, while RB Andre Ellington would still be the primary ball carrier.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Ellington is a dangerous weapon, and the Cardinals are not going to eliminate him from being a big part of the offense just because they drafted Johnson. We like Johnson as a banger between the tackles and a player who can grind down opponents. The Cardinals will use a RBBC with Ellington as the lead back and Johnson as a power change-of-pace back. His workload near the goal line could make him a decent fantasy option in TD-only leagues.

ATL - Tevin Coleman a favorite to start?
Source: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution - D. Orlando Ledbetter
Atlanta Falcons RB Tevin Coleman could see the majority of work in the Falcons' backfield in 2015, with Devonta Freeman closely behind him, according to D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
We love Coleman's upside and ability. He's an upright runner in the mold of DeMarco Murray (Eagles), and Coleman has the speed to score from anywhere on the field. Coleman gets stronger as the game goes on, and he should be able to take advantage of defenses focused on stopping the Falcons passing game.

TEN - Zach Mettenberger to fight for job
Source: The Tennessean - Jim Wyatt
Tennessee Titans QB Zach Mettenberger, who is now the backup quarterback to QB Marcus Mariota, did not demand a trade and is adamant about going to training camp with a chance to compete against Mariota for the starting job, according to OT Taylor Lewan. Mettenberger took part in the team's voluntary workout program last Friday and Monday, May 4. Mettenberger was 0-6 in his starts last year as a rookie and threw for 1,412 yards with eight touchdowns and seven interceptions. Lewan also said Mettenberger lost around 15 pounds this offseason and looks leaner and stronger.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Mettenberger just isn't the answer. He's a decent backup in the NFL...think of a poor man's version of Derek Anderson and that's the player Mettenberger is. Mariota is the starter, and we don't see a way Mettenberger can change that.

CIN - More on TE Tyler Eifert
    Source: Bengals.com - Geoff Hobson
Updating previous reports, Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (shoulder, elbow) has been cleared from his dislocated elbow but is awaiting clearance on his shoulder.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
The "B" word (bust) is going to be tossed around even more this year if Eifert can't stay healthy and fails to produce. He said he lost 15 pounds but has packed on some of that back to 250 and is working on bulking up. Eifert is expected to be ready for training camp.

NE - QB Tom Brady facing punishment?

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter
New England Patriots QB Tom Brady could be punished by the NFL for his involvement in the incident with the deflated footballs, according to a source.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
The Ted Wells Report reveals text message between equipment personnel Jim McNally and John Jastremski that put Brady in a bad light. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the league is considering disciplining Brady, McNally and Jastremski. Nothing is determined, but it's a possibility that Brady could be looking at a fine and/or suspension due to the results of this report. In other words, there's a chance we could see Jimmy Garoppollo as the Patriots starter for Week 1 if Brady is suspended for a game to begin the season. BUT, we're a long ways from that right now as nothing official has been determined by the league of what punishment (if any) will be coming down. Stay tuned.

PHI - QB Mark Sanchez has chance to start in PHI

Philadelphia Eagles QB Mark Sanchez believes he can still start this year. 'Really just talking with [head] coach [Chip] Kelly and knowing I'm coming with the opportunity to compete for the starting job, that was important to me,' Sanchez said.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Sanchez has a leg up on the competition because he worked in this system last year. Sam Bradford was brought in earlier this year, but he's struggled to stay healthy as a pro...and those injuries problems could once again haunt him this season. If he's the starter, Sanchez is still merely a QB2 for fantasy owners.

CHI - Kevin White agrees to terms

Source: Chicago Tribune - Brad Biggs

Chicago Bears first-round draft choice WR Kevin White has agreed to terms with the team on a four-year contract that includes a fifth-year option. Financial terms were not disclosed.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We love the addition of White. He's got the speed to stretch the field, and he takes the top off the defense in the blink of an eye. White can also run short routes and turn them into long gains because of his agility and quickness in the open field. He gives the Bears another weapon to start opposite Alshon Jeffery. If Jay Cutler can be a decent starter, White could be a WR3 with upside each week for fantasy owners. Relying on Cutler is a gamble, so fantasy owners should consider White more of a WR4 to add in the 10th round of PPR re-draft leagues.

NYG - La'el Collins on Giants' radar

Source: The Star-Ledger - Jordan Raanan

Undrafted free-agent OT La'el Collins (Louisiana State) has the New York Giants on his radar, according to sources.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Collins needs to get cleared from the murder investigation surrounding his ex-girlfrield. At this time, he is not a suspect and has been fully cooperating with police. A first-round talent, Collins is free to sign with any team.

    CHI - Jeremy Langford signs

    Source: ESPNChicago.com - Jeff Dickerson

The Chicago Bears signed RB Jeremy Langford, the team's fourth-round draft pick, to a four-year contract Tuesday, May 5.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Langford is a quality reserve running back with the ability to be a spot starter if necessary. While not a power back, Langford is a willing inside runner and he plays bigger than his size. He's got good balance and can serve as a safety-valve receiver out of the backfield. Langford will compete with Kadeem Carey for the backup role behind starter Matt Forte.

    Friday Update

MIN - Matt Kalil has both knees scoped
Source: USA TODAY Sports - Tom Pelissero
Minnesota Vikings OT Matt Kalil (knees) underwent arthroscopic surgery on both knees in January and received injections designed to help patients deal with joint pain in March, two people with knowledge of the procedures told USA TODAY Sports. Kalil has had knee troubles the last two seasons.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Yikes! It's been a long couple of seasons for the former first-round draft pick, who has seen a decline in the quality of play since his rookie year. Could the knees have been a huge factor and if so, will this fix it? The Vikings drafted T.J. Clemmings in the middle rounds, a guy with first-round talent but a stress fracture in his foot that caused him to fall in the draft. Clemmings is likely a future starter at right tackle, and it would be great for the Vikings if Kalil can get healthy and get back on track.

    OAK - Amari Cooper signs
    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Mike Florio
Oakland Raiders WR Amari Cooper signed a four-year deal, with a fifth-year option Thursday, May 7.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Cooper was a great pick for the Raiders. He's got the speed to get by defenders quickly, and he does a good job of tracking passes over his shoulder. Cooper's best asset is his route-running ability. Think of Marvin Harrison (former Colts great) and you have Cooper in terms of quickness and agility. Cooper will immediately help second-year QB Derek Carr, and fantasy owners should look at Cooper as a WR4 with upside.

    NYJ - Bryce Petty signs
    Source: NewYorkJets.com - Randy Lange
New York Jets QB Bryce Petty signed his rookie contract Thursday, May 7.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Petty is an interesting dynasty prospect to keep an eye on. Under Jets OC Chan Gailey, we could see Petty look more comfortable than he would under a different coach. Petty put up good numbers in a spread system where he threw to mostly wide-open receivers and never called plays. At the Senior Bowl earlier this year, Petty struggled to take snaps from under center. The arm talent is there, but Petty has a lot to develop before he is ready for the pro game.

MIA - DeVante Parker signs with Miami
Source: The Miami Herald - Adam H. Beasley
Miami Dolphins WR DeVante Parker signed a four-year deal worth $10.9 million Thursday, May 7. The deal includes a $6.2 million signing bonus.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
We love this move for the Dolphins. Parker has the good speed to get open on deep routes. He has good body control and elite concentration as evidenced by his three drops since 2012. Parker can win at the point of the catch, and he does a good job of snaring passes at their highest point. Look for him to earn a starting job opposite Jarvis Landry at some point (Week 1?) in 2015.

    Saturday Update

NE - Fear long suspension for Brady?

    Source: Mike Giardi - CSNNE.com
Mike Giardi, from CSNNE.com, reports the New England Patriots are bracing for the worst with a possible suspension looming for quarterback Tom Brady. Sources tell Giardi the team may be bracing for a 6-8 game suspension for the superstar quarterback in the aftermath of the Wells report.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Fantasy owners are certainly keeping close tabs on this situation. If Brady is suspended, the Patriots would turn to second-year pro Jimmy Garoppolo. This not only impacts Brady's fantasy potential, but it also adds risk to guys like Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman in leagues that draft early. We should know more about any potential suspension in the near future....stay tuned.

SEA - QB Russell Wilson talks not close
    Source: 710 ESPN Seattle - Danny O'Neil

Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson has a four-year offer on the table believed to be close to $80 million. The two sides are believed to be more than $10 million apart.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We have a feeling something will get done. Wilson is in the final year of his rookie contract and has a paltry cap number around $1.7 million. They'll be working diligently to find a new agreement, but the team could always place the franchise tag on him after the season if need be.

DAL - Jones would consider trading 2016 1st round pick for RB
Source: David Helman - Fox Sports Southwest
David Helman, from Fox Sports Southwest, notes that in a recent interview on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he would consider trading their 2016 first-round pick for a running back (or additional defensive help). "I'd be reluctant to, but certainly if the right situation came along that could improve us now, with where we are with Romo, his career and where we are with what we've put together, it's a good time to go for it," Jones said.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Right now, the Cowboys have Darren McFadden penciled in as the lead back. Talent has never been a question mark with McFadden, but staying healthy has been a major problem for him throughout his pro career. Jones would consider trading away a future first-round pick, but we're not expecting this to happen. He's done this twice before for WR Joey Galloway and then WR Roy Williams...those transactions should be more than enough to give Jones pause when considering doing it again.

NYJ - Devin Smith signs contract

    Source: NewYorkJets.com - Eric Allen
New York Jets WR Devin Smith signed his contract with the team Friday, May 8. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Smith is a big-play receiver with the speed to take the top off the defense. He's got instant burst to get off the line of scrimmage, and Smith doesn't lose much speed in and out of his breaks. Concentration problems and drops will need to be cleaned up if he wants to play up to his potential as a pro.

CAR - Shaq Thompson leaves practice

Source: Charlotte Observer - Joseph Person

Carolina Panthers LB Shaq Thompson (hamstring) left practice early Friday, May 8, because of a hamstring injury.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

No word on the severity yet. Thompson is one of our favorite rookies from this draft class. He can be used in a role similar to what the Seahawks use Kam Chancellor. Thompson may not be as violent as Chancellor at the point of attack, but he's got the athleticism and speed to be moved all over the field.

NYJ - Bryce Petty impressive at practice

    Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini

New York Jets QB Bryce Petty showed velocity and accuracy with his passes during seven-on-seven drills Friday, May 8. 'He has all the intangibles, but that word is thrown around so much,' head coach Todd Bowles. 'It's sort of the new word for 'potential.''

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Petty has impressive arm talent, and he seems like a coachable prospect. However, he needs to learn how to work from under center. It's not just taking a snap cleanly, Petty needs to show the ability to diagnose the defense while dropping back. He then needs to prove that he can make stick throws into tight coverage. We're curious to monitor his development under Jets OC Chan Gailey.

JAX - Dante Fowler has torn ACL

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Updating a previous report, Jacksonville Jaguars DE Dante Fowler (knee) suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament during practice Friday, May 8, and will miss the entire 2015 season, according to a source.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bad news for the Jaguars here. Fowler was one of our favorite pass-rushers in this draft class, and now we won't see him until next offseason. The rookie had yet to sign a contract, but he did sign an injury waiver that will require the Jagaurs to negotiate in good faith. This is a crushing blow to the defense, and now we'll see veteran Chris Clemons take over as the "Leo" pass-rusher.

CAR - Devin Funchess dealing with cramps

Source: The Associated Press - Steve Reed

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess was carted off the field during practice Friday, May 8, but is just dealing with leg cramps, according to the team.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Funchess is an interesting pick for the Panthers. He's a big target--like last year's first-round pick Kelvin Benjamin--but Funchess drops too many passes and is not an explosive route-runner. Funchess is built more like a move tight end, so it will be interesting to see how Carolina tries to fit him into the offense.

NYG - WR Kevin Ogletree cut

    Source: Giants.com

The New York Giants cut WR Kevin Ogletree on Thursday, May 7.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ogletree just didn't fit on a team with a jam-packed wide receiver corps. The Giants have wide receiver talent falling out of their pockets, and Ogletree was the odd man out. There might be some team interested in adding him as a camp body.

There's still a lot of big name RBs out there. DAL needs an extra RB. Must be a price tag issue right now.
