Busy Eagles to Add Gore and Maxwell, Re-Sign Sanchez

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Frank Gore's deal with the Eagles will be for three years, and include $7.5 million guaranteed across the first two.

That's a huge gamble considering Gore turns 32 in May, but he's yet to show any real signs of weardown. Philly's pursuit of Gore and Mark Ingram is an indication Chip Kelly wants a more power-based running attack. We have a hard time believing anyone else came close to offering Gore $7.5 million guaranteed.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Eagles CB Byron Maxwell's new six-year contract is worth $63 million with $25 million guaranteed.

Although Maxwell hasn't technically signed on the dotted line yet, the sides have formally agreed to terms. Maxwell will put pen to paper on Tuesday. Maxwell is a big, physical press corner who will likely play his natural right cornerback position in Philadelphia. They're targeting Tramon Williams to play left corner. Brandon Boykin will return as the slot corner.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Eagles re-signed QB Mark Sanchez to a two-year, $9 million contract.

The deal includes $5.5 million guaranteed. Sanchez can earn another $7 million in incentives. It's believed announcing Jeremy Maclin's re-signing is next on the docket for the aggressive Eagles. Sanchez, 28, finished 2014 with a 64.1 completion rate, 14:11 TD-to-INT ratio, and 7.8 YPA -- all career bests -- but got worse the more he played and shouldn't be viewed by the Eagles as more than a desperate option to start games. As Philly is likely to draft a quarterback, Sanchez's return signals that Nick Foles is on his way out, likely via trade.

$7.5 mil guaranteed to a 32 year old RB? Chip Kelly might be drunk.

    Well HEY NOW!...

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports free agent Frank Gore is "reconsidering" signing with the Eagles.

Gore's three-year deal with the Eagles has been widely reported as finished, with the terms including $7.5 million guaranteed over the first two seasons. Perhaps the 49ers have gotten cold feet about letting their veteran leader walk following Monday's retirement revelations surrounding Justin Smith and Patrick Willis. Per Rapsheet, the Colts are a team to watch for the 31 year old's services. A reversal would be a big loss for the Eagles, who were reportedly interested in Mark Ingram before going hard after Gore.

They signed Ryan Matthews now. Chris Polk still has nice value since Matthews can never stay healthy.

Landing Ryan Mathews does not end Philadelphia's pursuit of Dallas free-agent RB DeMarco Murray. Hardly.

Free agent DeMarco Murray will visit the Eagles on Thursday.

Per ESPN's Adam Caplan, the Eagles' interest in Murray "got serious" on Wednesday, even after signing Ryan Mathews. The Jaguars already seem to have dropped out of the Murray running, while the Raiders were likely only included to drive up Murray's price tag. We'd expect Murray's decision to come down to the Eagles or Cowboys. Dallas' offer is $5 million annually.

    From press conf yesterday-

"We will never mortgage our future to go all the way up to go get somebody like that because we have too many other holes that we're going to take care of."
But ... he prefaced that by stating: "Marcus is the best quarterback in the draft."

Looks like Murray to Eagles will happen. Also Ryan Mathews, who has not signed yet, may then back out.

This would be a double hit for Opie. 1. Dallas loses their horse of a running back and worse the guy gets more money than a guy like Opie thinks he is worth. Opie gets upset when these billionaire owners over pay for a guy who will probably end up like Earl Campbell when his career is finished. All busted up.

Not hardly. I'm all for a guy getting all he can. Who could possibly blame him?

I love Murray. Would be awesome to have him. But only at the right price. You gotta look at history when signing high workload RB's.

That Dallas offensive line is really good, they will be fine with anyone except Trent Richardson running the ball behind that line.
