Nothing to gain or lose by this move. I think Cutler is due for a good game though.

Trestman is awful, making cutler a volume passer was his choice.

When a team makes a QB the "franchise QB" with a huge contract, how much choice does the coach have at that point ?

How many coaches have the balls to bench a "franchise QB" with a huge contract to try to get the ship right ?

It's not really a "move", Clausen has a concussion.

Clausen should play. He has always played like he has a concussion.

Well, it's easy when you're spending someone else's money. They gotta pay the current clowns like 25 mil to go away and then Harbaugh probably another 45 mil. That's a lot of coin just for coaching. And then are you paying Cutler to go away too? And that's even if Harbaugh is interested. And it could still end up a dumpster fire - will Harbaugh get frustrated that the team is a mess? Harbaugh seems lie a guy to bring in with a good team. Is this team good? The defense is a mess. And if you dump Cutler, who's the QB? There's no one in the wings.

Cutty can get it done, just get him some stops on d and run the ball more to keep the other defenses honest, this is not rocket science.

This is the truth of the whole matter, the defense is the worst in the league, so even if Manning, Luck or Rodgers walked into the locker room as the starting QB the Bears would still give up the most points in the league and might not make the playoffs, and Clausen had his tryout and he isn't going to cut it.

Keep Cutty and draft all defense and a qb for the future, maybe even trade forte sice he is getting old and rbs are a dime a dozen.

While I agree Clausen is not the answer (not even close), he actually played a lot better than expected against the Lions.

Yes, he did. That was about as good as it gets for him.

I read the other day that Harbaugh was a huge backer of David Fales, believe it or not. Apparently he said big things about him coming out last year.

I suppose if they brought in Harbaugh they could usher in the David Fales era. What could go wrong.

A competent qb can take pressure off the defense. That being said, the crappy defense has no bearing on the bear offense not being able to score. This is trestman's track record on offense. He regresses year after year.

Ding, ding, ding. Is it Cutler's fault this defense went from top 10 to dead last in 2013 and then repeated as dead last in 2014? No.

Is it Cutler's fault this special teams went from top 10 to dead last in 2013 and then repeated as dead last in 2014? No.

Trestman has a well documented history of failure after year 1 in the NFL.

In 2010-2012, Cutler LED the Bears to a lot of wins. Not contributed. LED. When Cutler went down in those years, the Bears were an AUTOMATIC loss. Look at their record from 2010-2012 with Cutler and without Cutler. Not a coincidence if you watched those games. The Bears' offense was mediocre with Cutler in those years, and then dead last in the NFL without Cutler. What does that tell you?

Cutler will be back in 2015, and thank god he will be. Would be tragic to run the best QB Chicago ever had out of town just because Trestman is an incompetent buffoon.

Furthermore, if Cutler would have played like a pro bowler this year, this Bears team goes 8-8 at best. Great. A worse draft pick. You can scapegoat him if you want... but just to remind you all, this offense has blasted Cutler publicly for checking out of run plays, and have also blasted him anonymously publicly for refusing to check out of run plays.

These coaches are incompetent at coaching every phase of football, so I'm willing to give Cutler another chance with either Harbaugh or Shanahan.

Cutler is what he is, weird to scapegoat him now when he's been about the same player he's been for the last 5 years stats wise.

It's the Bears' GM who is actually a biggest sucker and a biggest coward here. He shoots himself in a leg with the extension and then redirects focus anywhere else but the actual shooting. I don't know who is worse, Marc Trestman as a coach or Jay Cutler as a QB, but the Bears won't make it in the Playoffs for the next xy years with these 2 guys. Trestman just can't do anything right, looks like a coach that has no idea what he's doing on the field and Cutler has a low QB IQ and looks like a depressed puppy. By trading Cutler, which QB are they going to bring in Chicago? RGIII? Really?

Played Minnesota and cashed last two weeks, they are playing hard. But no way Vikings should be laying 7 points here. They're secondary is in rough shape, taking a stab with Chicago +7 and +275.

Miracle cover by Chicago, unreal they stopped them twice on 3rd and 4th down, inches to go, with Zimmer passing on FG to go up 7.

Cutler was bad today but he still is better than anything they are going to get to replace him for next season, maybe with a new coach the team can improve (but the O line and the whole D need significant improvement not just Cutler).
