The vote among NFLPA reps on a new drug policy is not expected until Friday at the earliest.

Josh Gordon, Wes Welker and other recently suspended players remain in limbo. The union is awaiting a response from the league to its latest recommendations before they actually hold their vote, and the league office is a engulfed with the Ray Rice scandal right now. The two sides appear close on a deal, but there are "issues with language on multiple issues, including commissioner authority in the appeals process."
But you practiced quoting articles that are just only speculations this week again.

Lets just start quoting actual facts and not speculations for a change.

Nothing wrong with that as long as it is reasonable and not far-fetched, as was the case here as the vote WAS originally scheduled for Tuesday. It allows for fantasy owners to get a jump start in their intentions. Waiting until vote is final could be too late because then everyone will act and owners may get snaked on their players.

I don't understand. If the NFL ends up agreeing its a flawed test, why should Gordon get any suspension, let alone 8 games?

Looks like Gordon is getting 10 games regardless and won't be back until Week 12. I haven't read the details yet and won't until later on tonight.

I think it would be week 10. I'm assuming since Adam Schefter wrote this......

    Adam Schefter ‏@AdamSchefter 35m

Now being told Josh Gordon will be suspended 10 games, which turns into 9 games starting now. So it’ll be 9 more of suspension, not eight.

No it's Week 12. Nine more games is Weeks 2-11 (there is a bye week in between).

I am still not clear on WHY he still gets 10 games though.

he won't be back till week 14 he will be convicted of a DWI which adds 2 more games. Drop him, it's useless to waste a space on a guy that won't play for you unless you make the playoffs and if you made the playoffs chances are you don't need him anyways

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports the NFLPA has unanimously approved the terms of a new drug policy.

The biggest changes will include testing for HGH and a higher threshold for a positive marijuana test. If finalized by Sunday, Wes Welker and Cowboys CB Orlando Scandrick will be immediately reinstated and available to play this week. Josh Gordon's suspension is expected to be reduced to 10 games, potentially putting him on track to return in Week 12.

Wow that's hardly reinstating him. Still a harsh penalty.

Yeah I mentioned a couple of times in recent posts that Gordon is still out 10 games and I am still not sure why.

Well this just sucks...have to wonder if he will be an impact once he gets back. The layoff can't help.

Only bright spot for me is I don't have Peterson on any of my teams.

Well at least this is finally settled. He's already owned in both of my leagues. One guy offered me Gordon and Wallace for Peterson.

In the NFL, suspensions are subject to change.

Still quite a stiff penalty for Gordon, 10 games seems excessive.

But I thought they lowered the weed threshold to where he would not have been suspended at all for it. I wonder if it has something to do with the suspension having to do with a 2013 offense and not 2014. That could be it, I think it would not be effected by the new policy since it happened last year and the NFL basically reduced the ban of its own accord when it did not have to. That is all speculation though, I just don't know without digging deeper, which I haven't had time to do.

It looks like the bold part is exactly the reason.

    http://factoryofsadness.co/2014/09/1...me-suspension/

So why isn’t Gordon’s entire suspension be wiped away?

It’s because his failed test for marijuana was his fourth violation, and this is what the new drug abuse policy calls for, according to [ Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay] Cabot.

...NFL and the NFLPA are using the old threshold from 2013 but applying the new sanctions.

So while Gordon's weed violation would not count under the new threshold, it did at the time and the new policy calls for 10 games on fourth violation.
