The wide receiver wants out but the team does not seem willing to accommodate his request despite four teams said to be willing to trade for him.


The Houston Chronicle reports Andre Johnson "will not be traded."
Beat writer John McClain is plugged in to all things Texans. He believes the Texans want Johnson to finish his career in Houston and they don't want to deal Johnson simply because he wants out, which would set a precedent for similar situations if they were to develop in the future. Another big factor is money. The Texans would eat $12 million by trading Johnson, and the acquiring team would take on his roughly $16 million cap hit. Johnson will be playing for the Texans come Week 1, or he'll sit out and forfeit over $500,000 per week.

This is all business, not personal, on both sides. Andre wants his 2015 contract guaranteed and the Texans would be idiots to do that now with a big JJ Watt contract coming and Andre being 34 next year.

Andre Johnson's player rep has remained in contact with the Texans.
Johnson's agent declined comment on reports that Johnson had shown up at team facilities on Monday, but suggested tensions have cooled. For now, most signs point toward Johnson reporting for the Texans' first workout on Saturday.

Andre deserves to be on a contender.

Simple as that.

He's been the best wr in the league for last 8 years.

He hasn't even had a tier 2 quarterback in his career.

It's sad that this happens to some players.

He's a top 5 wr of all time.

With Sidney Rice being gone, Seattle is a team that would seem to fit everything that Andre would want, has the cap space, and could give the Texans their best shot at a first round pick. The Seahawks have about $8mil in cap space right now. With a few moves they could probably work enough space or restructure Johnson’s contract to get him on the roster for the next two seasons of his contract without issue.

Andre's contract is through 2016, my guess is Seattle won't want to tie up so much money in the WR position with Harvin already having a big contract. Don't forget, Seahawks will likely give Russell Wilson a big payday next year.

Johnson reports to camp. He may not be happy but it does not look like he is going anywhere this year.

We can all breathe. Johnson was in Houston talking with Texans brass earlier this week, leading many to believe he would report to camp in time for Saturday's first practice. He did just that. Johnson's not going anywhere this year, and will be suiting up for the Texans and catching passes from Ryan Fitzpatrick. He should still dominate targets, but Johnson's YPR average may take a blow. Even at 33, Johnson is still one of the premier receivers in football.
