Lazy posting Giant. Reigle on point, Taggart's done a good job turning USF around. They're a fun team to watch, he'll be missed.

This is why you guys lose so much in here. Thinking that a coach who went to a Group of 5 team and turned it around is a good hire. He is going to Oregon. Next season Oregon gets Nebraska, Utah, and Washington State at home, and Stanford, UCLA and Washington on the road, NOT San Jose State, Stony Brook, Illinois, and UMass, plus the very soft AAC Schedule that they USF plays. Anyone comparing the AAC to the Pac 12 really has a major problem. Will he be a good hire? Maybe. Maybe not. Passing judgement this early is just plain stupid.

    S&T,
but to be fair, Jim Leavitt was the one who built the Bulls program from the bottom up....it's a damn shame the university threw him under the bus after that one player complained or something like that...but bottom line, USF was a perennial top 25 team during his tenure and had them ranked #2 in the country at one time......but then the program almost hit rock bottom after Skip Holtz failed miserably...anyhow, Leavitt has done a great job with Colorado's defense this year as their D-coordinator and it wouldn't surprise me one bit if he get's a second chance somewhere else in the very near future.

That's pretty much true, but Taggart brought them to the top. Has nothing to do with Leavitt.

Btw, Leavitt is the DC of CU and should be getting more credit than the COY.

Taggart built Western Kentucky and USF. That's pretty impressive. He had the best recruiting rankings of the AAC.

Funny thing is they had decided to fire him last year when they started slow.

Does not seem like the best fit for Oregon but he seems to be a good recruiter. I doubt it works out but an interesting hire. The Oregon thing could not last forever.

Charlie Strong would be perfect fit for USF. Heard he is up for the Cincinnati job.

Yeah, right. All he did was kick their ass when he was in the same conference and he is known for his ability to recruit Florida. He might even be an upgrade.

Oregon job is going to be really tough with Anderson at Oregon State and USC and Washington going great guns and Leach in at Washington State. I guess he does have California recruiting chops from being with Harbaugh. He is mostly likely going to come up short no matter how well he does there. He will most likely get fired in four years.

You don't understand college football. It's all system when going to school to school. Strong would recruit well, but it would take a couple years.

You don't understand it. College football is all about recruiting. South Florida has the top talent in the conference right now. Strong will keep it at the top.

Taggart is a Harbaugh coach. Same basic style as Strong. Strong has been converted to the Big 12 style of play.

He would be a heck of a hire for USF. I would not be too concerned. USF is a dunce school and will make a bad hire and wind up bad again. Schools have an unlimited capacity to screw things up.

Well then, you ought to know that Taggart has been outrecruiting the rest of the conference. The next coach has the best recruits in the conference to work with. No two-year adjustment with Strong. He just keeps the talent flow flowing in.

had no idea that USF was 10-2 this season.. did a great job there and at WK

interesting hire...... oregon has had a special system and played far above its recruiting rankings....... i'm thinking taggart isn't consistent with that style but i may be wrong........

i think expectations will be far too high....

I love Taggart but dont like the hire. We'll see though, expectations are high at Oregon, Id rather he went somewhere like a Pitt, a decent school in a power 5 where he can exceed expectations.

Good conversation, guys. Way to keep things civil.

This was definitely an interesting hire. I guess Taggart does have ties to the west coast at Stanford. I wish him well, college football is better when Oregon is relevant.

I would be pretty nervous if I was an Oregon fan. They have had an incredible run with Brooks, Belotti and Kelly. Now you are totaling blowing up that tree for Willie Taggart. Seems a stretch.

Where do you rate Taggart among Pac 12 coaches in ability to recruit and coach. Got to be last even if you like the guy. He's not going to be recruiting Florida guys to Florida.

I think Helfrich probably would have done better than Taggart will do.

Washington went out and got Peterson and Oregon comes up with Taggart. Washington is going to be replacing Oregon and Oregon is going to become Sarkisian Washington probably at best.

The boys @ Stanford (Luck, etc.) might disagree. He's not new to the west coast or the Pac 12. Maybe give the guy more than 2 days before passing judgement.

Maybe they put him above Shaw for 11th. Not sure how much credit they gave the running backs coach.
