I'll start by saying I've backed U-Dub as a very good team all season. I believe they are legitimate with a good young quarterback, loads of talent, and a proven head coach. On top of that they have a great homefield advantage.

That said, this is a scary game for them. USC is rolling right now and the Huskies have a lot of pressure on them now that they've entered the top 4 in the playoff rankings.

Petersen has proven himself to be a great coach and he'll more than likely has his team ready but this is a dangerous game against a formidable and hot USC squad.

I'm on USC +9 and a small shot on the ML +270. Should be a competitive game.

I like how everyone is saying how USC is rolling now after a tough start

Look at their schedule, the played Alabama got beat down then the first part of their PAC 12 schedule was against the top half of their conference and they got worked. On this winning streak they have feasted on the worst teams in their conference, which many wouldn't be above .500 in the MAC conference, and suddenly they are surging hmmmm, I wonder why? Fact is this team hasn't won a meaningful game in years and I wouldn't be surprised if they get routed again

Going into this year I thought this game and @ Wazzu would be the toughest challenge. Seems that way. I just don't see how USC stops the Huskies offense but if a few bounces go their way it should be a close game.

The upset seems unlikely but I think they're in for a tough game. If it's close, anything can happen.

anyone have any thoughts on how good USC is these days? especially the defense which was very young/inexperienced to start the season.

i think the offense is fine and highly competitive with W's D

washington has been pretty dependent on big plays - both running and passing i think. even PR in the Utah win..i assume washington won't complete many 40+ yards passing TD's vs. USC.

one last piece of thought: seems like years ago that team's in Washington's upstart/amazing season situation had a propensity to lay an egg. they got very tight mentally.......... but hasn't seemed to be the case recently. i could be wrong about then/now though

Moxie agree with most of your thoughts in general and about this game. Have you been watching the USC games the last few weeks? Their secondary is very young, a real lack of communication out on the field, and getting worked on double moves/assignments. The deep pass to the speedy uw wr (forgot name opposite of pettis) will be there. However, the Udub front 7 has also been gashed a few times early in games before second half adjustments and I think SC will be able to effectively establish the run and be balanced all game. Plus, SC has arguably one of best TEs in the country. SC should be able to control the pace of the game keep this one close, at the very least for a half....then again these are 18 to 23 yr old kids we're talking about.
Mentally this Husky team IMO will be more prepared unlike recent past teams thanks to Pedersen and his staff. Coaching makes a YUGE difference. He always seems to get the most focus and effort out of the smallest of talent. Either way, hope the game is worth watching and not a let down.

Take Wash to the bank. One of the top offenses in football with the best offensive minds calling the plays. 2 game changing receivers. USC looked avg ag Oregon , have fun with that new born QB in U Dubs backyard. They have been waiting for this game ...

In College hoops, teams getting new attention, new #1s, seem to have a let down at an alarming rate.

Not sure if Foots works that way at all.

John Ross.... and there's a 3rd one with good numbers. plus mcclatchy name?? the local sophomore speedster

but Ross has had some huge games.

thx for insight on the secondary. surprising as they have tons of very highly rated - and i think experienced - recruits there.

as i think you said, USC running game is really good these days.

i'd say looking back it'll be obvious that washington = play especially close to 7 point spread......... but my stupid, contrarian intuitition says USC

DOM, good comment... i appreciate it.

much more variance in college basketball........... no real analog to the 3 pointer in football... probably the key in football is OLINE vs. DLINE and there teams like alabama or ohio state just have much better players than almost all their opponents.

the one exception but again it may be historical or may never have existed was rivalry games. seems like underdog teams really stepped up.. but not sure that is case any longer

USC has bats and their switch at QB was shawp. Tix in endzone for $134 - seems like good value.

Contrarion play I think is USC. I will watch the line movement closely. I took it at 7.5 ( -120 ) on Mon. I really don't know how much of the betting public knows who Washingtons coach is. I rarely if ever saw Boise lay an egg. It's Boise 5-8 years ago with better athletes and a ruthless crowd. Gonna enjoy this one !!

i am thinking of going too.. and couple of guys at my gym already have tix................ for partially personal reasons, i might wait a week and go see ASU @ Wash.... cheaper tix, hopefully undefeated huskies still but not as competitive a game.

gotta be the biggest game for washington in a very long time.... 25 years?

u doing the C$ conversion on ticket price cause i'm counting on them being alot cheaper for USC game as per stubhub.

An obviuous USC hater. You must love Uceless or Nutered Dame or both. The facts are these. USC defeated Colorado, the team that is most likely to play against UDub in the Pac 12 Championship. Last season they kicked Uceless's tail. Fir UDub to win this game, they will have to outscore USC because they will NOT stop the USC double barrelled offense. 62 1/2 may not be a high enough total. I look for a 45-35 UDub win.

I think USC is rolling of late. 4-1 ATS over the last five games and the only one they didn't cover was Colorado where USC's receiver literally laid down instead of scoring the covering TD late in the 4th quarter.

Nobody? Speak for yourself. As I said yesterday, USC held a still very good offensive team in Oregon to 20... USC is rolling, I don't care who their opponents have been, they pass the eyeball test for anyone who has actually watched them play. Very hard to run the table, this was the Dawgs biggest hurdle to date and it's not looking good so far.

Good call on this one wizzle. I didn't think they would pull it off but they did. They actually played up to their potential which is something that has not happened much lately in these big time matchups.
