You could say the same exact thing about Edwards. This is an awesome matchup. I think Edwards might surprise with his wrestling.

    Part 2 - MMA mania

    155 lbs.: Joe Duffy
    vs. Reza Madadi

Joe Duffy (15-2) torched Jake Lindsey and Ivan Jorge in less than five combined minutes to start his UFC career, then dropped a decision to Dustin Poirier in an excellent, bloody scrap. He proceeded to pick up where he left off by dropping and submitting Mitch Clarke in a grand total of 25 seconds six months later.
“Irish Joe” has submitted 10 and knocked out four, all but one in the first round.
Reza Madadi’s (14-4) upset submission of Michael Johnson seemed poised to launch Madadi into the outskirts of contention, but a robbery conviction and subsequent jail time delayed his return to the cage for 18 months. Since his return, he dropped a decision to Norman Parke and come back from early adversity to knock out Yan Cabral in Rotterdam.
“Mad Dog” has submitted eight opponents of his own.
Madadi has an extremely effective top game and better wrestling than the average Lightweight, both of which appear on paper to be potent anti-Duffy weapons. Sadly, he’s also extremely slow, doesn’t cut the cage off well, and has no real striking attack outside feather-fisted brawling.
Great Brazilian jiu-jitsu is useless if he can’t consistently get on top.
I honestly expect Duffy to run circles around Madadi, battering him with fluid combinations and using footwork to steer clear of takedowns. “Mad Dog” is a little too tough to finish, but that just means he’ll get drubbed for the full 15 minutes.
    Prediction: Duffy via unanimous decision

205 lbs.: Darren Stewart vs. Francimar Barroso

Darren Stewart (7-0) bull-rushed his way to the Ultimate Fighting Championship with five (technical) knockouts in his first seven fights, four of them in under 2:30. This set up his Nov. 2016 debut against Barroso, which ended abruptly because of an accidental clash of heads.
He will give up three inches of height to the 6’1” “Bodao.”
Francimar Barroso (18-5) entered UFC having won 12 of his previous 13 fights, all but one by stoppage. His six-fight UFC run has seen a bit less consistency, as he’s gone 3-2 (1 NC) with four trips to the judges.
He has knocked out eight professional opponents and submitted another six.
I just don’t get Barroso. I do not understand how this man has a winning record in UFC. I don’t know what he’s good at besides above-average wrestling, good submission defense and a handful of kicks. I don’t even know what happened against Stewart — there was definitely head contact, but Barroso acted like he got a genuine Evander Holyfield head-knocker when it was barely a tap.
And I’m still picking him to win.
The thing with Stewart is that his entire gameplan is “be very strong, muscle opponent to the ground, punch until movement ceases.” He doesn’t have good striking, he doesn’t have good wrestling, gets hit very easily, and his 94 seconds with Barroso are the extent of his high-level experience. Barring more shenanigans, Barroso outstrikes him at range and controls the wrestling for a decision.
    Prediction: Barroso via unanimous decision

265 lbs.: Daniel Omielanczuk vs. Timothy Johnson

Poland’s Daniel Omielanczuk (19-6-1) rebounded from consecutive losses against Jared Rosholt and Anthony Hamilton to win three straight, including a light upset of veteran submission artist Oleksiy Oliynyk. This got him a spot on the main card of UFC 204, where he suffered the first submission loss of his career at the hands of Stefan Struve.
He will give up three inches of height to Johnson.
Timothy Johnson (10-3) started his UFC career strong with a ground-and-pound stoppage of Shamil Abdurakhimov, earning “Fight of the Night” in the process. He’ll enter the cage on Saturday having lost two of his last three, a win over Marcin Tybura sandwiched between tough losses to Jared Rosholt and Alexander Volkov.
Five of his nine stoppage wins have come via (technical) knockout.
Omielanczuk is durable, aggressive and has some deceptive power in his left hand, but there’s just nothing about his game that stands out. Decent on the feet, decent takedown defense, able to survive on the mat.
Against Johnson, “good enough” might not be.
Johnson will have three inches of height and, judging by their most recent respective weigh-ins, more than twenty pounds of weight on Omielanczuk. He’s also a stronger wrestler than the Pole, hits fairly hard, and is quite difficult to get rid of. Though it might be a slog, expect Johnson’s physicality to carry him to victory.
    Prediction: Johnson via unanimous decision

155 lbs.: Marc Diakiese vs. Teemu Packal
    en

March Diakiese (11-0) lived up to his nickname in his last two pre-UFC fights, which lasted a combined 60 seconds and secured his hold on the BAMMA Lightweight Championship. He kept the finishing streak alive against Lukasz Sajewski, but had to settle for a competitive decision against Frankie Perez his next time out.
“Bonecrusher” will give up three inches of height to the 6’1” Teemu Packalen (8-1).
Finland’s Packalén disposed of his first seven professional opponents in less than two rounds apiece, but fell when he stepped up to face Mickael Lebout on short notice at UFC Fight Night 72. His next fight went a tad bit better as he submitted Thibault Gouti in just 24 seconds to earn “Performance of the Night.”
He owns six wins by submission and two via (technical) knockout.
Diakiese is still at the point of his career where he can get away with using his incredible athleticism as a crutch, but I’m not sure how long that can last. Packalen is exactly the sort of tricky grappler to exploit his overzealousness and tendency to fall back on his wrestling when things start to go south on the feet.
If Diakiese could be trusted to stay calm and simply sprawl-and-brawl the lanky Finn, he’d have a very good chance, but I doubt it happens. Shades of Guillard-Lauzon as Packalen exploits some dramatic attack to lock up a choke in transition.
    Prediction: Packalen via second-round submission

Part 1 again.. Just posting back to back..

185 lbs.: Tom Breese vs. Oluwale Bamgbose

Despite making his name as a grappling specialist, Tom Breese (10-1) announced his UFC arrival by demolishing Luiz Dutra Jr. and Cathal Pendred in a round apiece. “The Octopus” then took a decision over Japanese veteran Keita Nakamura before dropping a split to Sean Strickland at UFC 199.
At 6’3,” he stands four inches taller than Oluwale Bamgbose (6-2).
The waters proved a little too deep for Bamgbose in his late-notice Octagon debut, which saw him fall to Uriah Hall’s ground-and-pound halfway through the first. He roared back with a 60-second drubbing of Daniel Sarafian, but couldn’t capitalize on an early knockdown against Cezar Ferreira and wound up losing a decision.
All six of his wins have come by first-round knockout.
Bamgbose’s last fight showed us what happens when he can’t get the early finish: Nothing good. “Holy War Angel” burned himself out against a longer, rangier opponent who managed to survive the early onslaught and expose his still-lacking grappling.
Breese ticks all of those boxes without the handicap of “Mutante’s” shaky jaw.
While it remains to be seen how Breese’s imposing style will work against bigger men, his wrestling and submission skills are way more than Bamgbose can handle. “The Octopus” holds his own on the feet before dragging Bamgbose down and choking him out.
    Prediction: Breese via first-round submission

170 lbs.: Leon Edwards vs. Vicente Luque

Leon Edwards’ (12-3) up-and-down UFC career seemed destined for another valley when he was matched up against Russian destroyer Albert Tumenov at UFC 204. Undaunted, he exploited “Einstein’s” lingering grappling issues to score a third-round submission, just the third of his career.
He will give up an inch of height to the 5’11” Vicente Luque (11-5-1).
Representing Blackzilians on The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 21, Luque choked out Nathan Coy before losing a split decision to Hayder Hassan in the climactic showdown. He’s since emerged as an unexpected contender with four consecutive stoppage wins, including brutal knockouts of Hector Urbina and Belal Muhammad in his last two fights.
His 10 stoppage wins are split evenly between knockouts and submissions.
There’s a very good chance this one winds up being “Fight of the Night.” Both men are extremely capable finishers and, at just 25, both figure to have bright futures ahead of them. The match up itself is extremely close, but I’m leaning toward Luque for several reasons.
The first is that Luque figures to have a considerable grappling edge, one larger than the deficit he’s facing on the feet. The other is that, while Edwards has had to dig deep at times, Luque has been more or less unstoppable since losing to Michael Graves in his UFC debut.
Sure, Edwards has been facing stiffer competition, but it’s hard to argue with the sort of confidence Luque’s garnered. He finds his way to Edwards’ neck in the second.
    Prediction: Luque via second-round submission

    135 lbs.: Ian Entwistle
    vs. Brett Johns

Ian Entwistle’s (9-3) dogged pursuit of the submission carried him to eight first-round wins, but proved his undoing in his UFC debut when Dan Hooker punished him with elbows. “Enty” got back on track with a 64-second submission of Anthony Birchak, only for history to repeat itself against Alejandro Perez.
No fight of his has ever lasted longer than 4:04.
Brett Johns choked out Walel Watson for the Titan FC Bantamweight title in 2015, but lost it on the scale before a split decision win over Anthony Gutierrez. He nonetheless got the chance to join UFC, where “The Pikey” out-dueled Korean bruiser Kwan Ho Kwak in Belfast.
Four of his six stoppage wins have come by submission.
Look, we all know exactly how this is going to go: Either Entwistle gets a highlight-reel submission in the first few minutes or Johns smashes him to bits while “Enty” cranks on a hopeless kneebar. To get an idea of which outcome I find more accurate, my greatest struggle in predicting this fight is deciding whether Johns will pound him out or choke him out.
Entwistle always has a chance, but he’s long past the point of diminishing returns. Johns keeps his legs out of trouble and bashes his way to a stoppage.
Prediction: Johns via first-round technical knockout

185 lbs.: Brad Scott vs. Scott Askham

Representing Britain on TUF: “Smashes,” Brad Scott (10-4) defeated Xavier Lucas and Benny Alloway before falling to Robert Whittaker on the Finale. He’s alternated wins and losses since, most recently dropping a decision to the surging Krzysztof Jotko in London. This will be hist first fight in over a year and just his third in the last three.
Scott Askham (14-3) — who entered UFC as the reigning BAMMA Middleweight champion — has struggled to stay consistent. He has also alternated losses and wins in his 2-3 run, dropping decisions to Magnus Cedenblad, Krzysztof Jotko and Jack Hermansson.
Nine of his professional wins have come by form of knockout.
Askham’s definitely got the higher ceiling of the two both literally and figuratively. While he’s come up short more than I expected him to, he’s still a towering, durable iddleweight with a lot of power in his limbs. Scott, meanwhile, doesn’t have any standout skills besides toughness and I expect him to struggle with the range.
Regardless of whether Askham ever lives up to his potential, he has more tools and quite a bit more stopping power than the “Bear.” He catches him with something gnarly late in the first.
Prediction: Askham via first-round technical knockout

    135 lbs.: Lina L
    ansberg vs. Lucie Pudilova

Known as the “Elbow Princess,” Linda Lansberg (6-2) answered the call when Cris “Cyborg” needed an opponent for her first UFC headliner. Despite her Muay Thai experience, Lansberg had no answer for her foe’s physicality and ultimately succumbed to strikes in the second.
Four of her six wins have come by form of knockout.
After a decision loss to Lansberg in her fourth professional fight, Lucie Pudilova (6-1) picked up a regional title to kick off a three-fight win streak. She earned submissions in her two most recent bouts, leaving her record an even mix of knockout, submission, and decision wins.
She replaces the injured Veronica Macedo on short notice.
Protip: don’t watch the first fight between these two. I’m pretty sure literally 10 of those 15 minutes were Lansberg holding Pudilova against the fence and throwing knees to the thigh. Neither of them came out looking impressive.
Is a year and a bit enough to make a difference? Probably not, especially not on short notice.
Lansberg more or less got the clinch whenever she wanted and Pudilova’s entire exit strategy was to wait for the referee. The latter does have a four-inch height advantage, but didn’t seem terribly adept at using it. Second verse same as the first as Lansberg clinches her way to another decision.
    Prediction: Lansberg via unanimous decision

Here is how I'm playing this Jouban/Nelson fight after all..

Jouban straight at 3-1 odds are very hard to pass up on.. Solid dog... So I'm playing Jouban straight at +300 and hedging with Gunnar Nelson by submission at +250 just for insurance no profit...

Jouban should give Gunnar Nelson a very tough fight regardless.. Worth a shot..

If Gunnar wins by Split Dec in London where the judging might be sketchy all my bets blow up.. I'm not seeing that though but it could happen. That's why it's called gambling ......

I saw a clip of it.

Bisping is entertaining, I'll give him that.

More entertaining than Rockhold, Jacare or Romero.

I don't see Gunnar knocking out Jouban.. Jouban has fought tougher guys that hit harder then Nelson.. If Gunnar is to win and finish it's probably gonna be by submission.

Only time Jouban was KO'd that I can remember is by Turmenov when he caught that head kick with his head which was the beginning of the end.. Jouban has rattled off 3 straight wins since then.

Jouban on the other hand could win by decision or by KO, 9 of Jouban's 15 wins have come by KO, he lost a rare decision 3 years ago.... Hasn't lost one decision since, and won most of his decision fights before that loss.. since..http://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Alan-Jouban-65878

I think this fight is going to be an absolute war and going to the cards either way.

(Now that I said that, someone will probably lose in the first 11 seconds of the first round).

Lol flip a coin I agree.. Just hedge or don't play.. I posted earlier this might be harder to cap then the last Brazilian card.. Brit fighters can't be trusted and either can the judging..

The spit dec props will be better odds if you think it's gonna be close.. Not out yet..

I think someone finishes myself.. Jouban I think will get aggressive as he's a pressure fighter by nature and will try to make a statement in this fight... He's been chomping at the bit to fight a top 10 ranked fighter also and Gunnar is just that... So they said on UFC Tonight show.. Gunnar fighting in London should bring it and be jacked up as well on the flip...

These are the current dec props anyways..

1107 Jouban wins by 3 round decision +450

1111 Nelson wins by 3 round decision +197

    1103 Jouban / Nelson goes 3 round distance -105

Jouban is a pretty boy but he is a brawler and a bruiser.. Don't be fooled by his looks.. He'll man up in this fight and go out swinging or get taken down and end up on his back I think....

    Jouban 9 ko's in 15 wins just saying.. .. http://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Alan-Jouban-65878

    1129 Jouban wins by TKO/KO +1060

Gunnar has never been KO'd though or even rocked in a fight if I remember correctly.. Gunnar Nelson also has that Machida stay at distance karate style.. Just stating the facts..

Agreed, Allen seems like no easy out though, if I had to go with either I would take Amirkhani as well which I am.. Prop play is tough as I see him winning by either decision or sub.. He'll have the slight height and reach advantage as well. http://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Makwan-Amirkhani-69406

Glad I'm not alone here. Super tough card to call.

Just noticed this card starts 7-8 hours earlier than normal.

WSOF is in the UFC's normal timeslot.

Even though Entwistle is undersized for 135 he missed weight (again) by four pounds. Hope he gets destroyed tomorrow.

I might have found one bet... a tiny little sprinkle on Allen. I think he's special and I want to get at least something on him before he ends up a heavy fav in future bouts. Amirkhani is very good as well. This is a nice fight, but with Allen showing improvement every time out and being at Tristar, I think his ability to stuff takedowns will win him this fight and I expect him to take over late as he gains confidence and gets gritty. Looking forward to this one.

I think UFC matchmaking has been very favorable to Alan Jouban. They want exciting fights and they know he will bring it, so they keep giving him bouts that will take place mostly on the feet. Gunnar Nelson is not going to play that game. I know Jouban has that 10th planet BJJ but in the very few times he has had to use it in the octagon I see some openings for a very tight grappler like Nelson to get around to that RNC. I'm thinking Nelson gets this fight on the mat and is too tight with his game there for Jouban to get his fight going.

Finally capped Anderson and Manuwa. Gonna put a little on Anderson here. Age, cardio, wrestling give him a bit of an advantage. Manuwa doesn't land walkoff KO's like Mark Hunt. He needs to wear guys down and I think Anderson will have a bit of speed and takedown advantage to control position enough to win. I wouldn't at all be surprised if this fight goes to decision. Manuwa gets taken down early in fights often and he gains steam later. Problem is, I don't think he'll gain enough back to stop Anderson and will run out of time to win decision.

Might need to wait to see a few fights to see if the judges are being decent before hitting this one though.

Screw it. I'll trust the judges for now. If we see anything crazy I'll consider readjusting.

    Allen 2u, -110
    Edwards 1u, +106
    Anderson 1u, +118
    Anderson/Manuwa o1.5, 1.5u, -150

Another very tight card. Small profit for slow, steady progress would be just fine. Good luck fellas.
