    Newbie question

    Hi folks,
I've been doing transactions for the past few years with Heritage Sports, and have now decided to try the Bitcoin route.

Already watched the tutorial, could you please share some tips on do's/dont's, or any other suggestions with the setup or process. Or mistakes or problems you've encountere. Thanks in advance

    dave

    Don't send to/from a bookmaker directly from/to Coinbase.

Not much else you can really get wrong as a newbie.

Do a few transactions and you will probably be surprised how simple it all is in practice.

Its really a lot like paypal as far as the works, except Optional is right, if you move bitcoin straight from your book to coinbase, or other way around they will shut you down for gambling.. i had Circle do this to me before they stopped doing bitcoin.

The other advice is to once you have it out of the sportsbook, if you dont want the value to change, move it and cash it out ASAP. Bitcoin values can be vulnerable and can change value on you.. for the better or worse

Hi, just created a coinbase account ... in order to avoid sending to/from coinbase to Heritage book, do I select a wallet within coinbase or somewhere else. If so, please advise which wallet to select

I hate blockchain as a wallet and their customer service is garbage. I just started using Airbitz as my wallet. So far so good.. Paxful is another decent wallet. also a place to buy bitcoin

It needs to be a diffferent wallet.

Most people use the free blockchain.info/wallet as the intermediary wallet. Easiest to get started with as so many others use it.

Airbitz is another alternative, if you are happy to be stuck only using a phone app.

Do not use the Paxful wallet with coinbase as they operate a person to person exchange which Cominbase also ban use of.

Just use the Blockchain.info one to get started

Open a coinbase today and started first bitcoin transaction, account says it will take 8-10 days for transaction to go thru. Is the initial transaction usually take that long? Will the purchase bitcoin time frame shorten afterward? Seems like takes too long to receive bitcoins. Please advice. Thanks in advance

It takes 3 business days to load money into the account from your bank and 1 bus day to be sent back there when you withdraw normally.

Not sure exactly why they are quoting 8-10 days. Are you talking about the verification procedure where they deposit a couple of times to your account to be confirmed maybe?

hmmm, don't recall going thru the bank verification procedure upon setting up the account. I added a "wallet" with my bank/checking account, and verified identity with my drivers license. Who initiates the test deposits in my bank account, is it somewhere in the settings/dashboard? thanks.

    What country are you in?

In the US they send two small deposits to your account and you need to enter the amounts correctly to verify your account.

    Might be different other places.

But to answer your original question. No it wont take 8-10 days to fund your account usually. Small amounts can be done instantly with a card or it takes 3 days to load cash from your bank so you can buy bitcoin.

    Sign up with cb
link bank account, test deposits will be instant, then change your bank password to a new one
scan dl and upload to cb
    link debit card
buy instant with debit card low $ 1st time, probably only $150 or so
send coins to another wallet then send to book
    thats about it

I went to buy some btc this morning at cb and if i had just used my checking account via ach it said the coins would show up March 21st, Thats 10 days. Im verified with a dl and debit card, so I just used my debit card, which the purchase was instant, sent to electrum, then sent to book and have been waiting 2 hours and still unconfirmed.

Took three hours to go through, I remember a few years ago when it would take like 2 minutes I guess those days are gone also. Edited part

    later
