Directbet.eu is the only instant payment bitcoin sportsbook I know of

You may not always get the odds you are looking for but they pay as soon as anything becomes official, and that means fast and no whining or waiting. Just bitcoin quick.

    Sincerely,
    Jon101

i use them mostly for Horse racing and Live Soccer wagering...There odds are lower then most books but in the racing you can catch a good value esp if you know the horse will take a ton of late action in parimutuel pools...they are good to have in basket of books but cant use them for most sport events as odds are better elsewhere..;.other then that they pay out instant after grading event and there CS is good plus live in wagering parlays is big plus..I had few small issues but they handled satisfactory..My biggest compliant is that in USA horse racing they do not list the tracks and races until near post times and you dont know what races they are taking that day USA tracks....the UK tracks they do good job with

DirectBet confiscated bet plus winnings from a horse race.

They claimed attempted double spend attempt. There isn't an attempted double spend. Proper fees were paid.

This is now the 5th time that they confiscated money. It's bad enough to grab winnings but they take the bet as well.

I'm not a horse player so can't help out there.

Taking the stake as well cannot be justified.

But how do they do that? I thought these cancels were due to accusations of double spending. Wouldn't that mean the player should have the coins still?

DirectBet receives the money. It's in Directbet's account. After the game ends, DirectBet accuses the player of an attempted double spend. If it wins, DirectBet keeps the money along with winnings. If it loses, Directbet keeps the money.

DirectBet has no proof of a double spend. It's not unusual for false positives to show as can be seen clicking the link.
    https://blockchain.info/double-spends
Double spends on this page may be unintentional. In the event that a double spend is maliciously crafted being listed on this page is no indication that it was successful or any merchant or user lost money as a result.

If DirectBet were a legit shop, they would say that all wagers that show up as a double spend attempt will be voided and returned since there isn't any proof of fraudulent activity. Instead, DirectBet just confiscates the bet.

Here's another one for 9 BTC. DirectBet accepted and confirmed the bet. Later they cancelled because of a low fee.

If the fee were too low it would have been returned to the player but it wasn't returned.

Then they confiscated the 9 BTC to cover another bet claiming double spend attempt.

No more bets can be accepted at this time.Amount Received : 9.049 BTC.

    Here's what the player said.
Directbet stole over 5k from me. (9.04 BTC)

I placed a bet over a month ago and directbet has not returned it. They rejected the bet and then did not refund the btc. Instead they just update the betslip page posting someone elses transaction ID and said its to cover an unpaid bet.

Complete garbage from a garbage book.

Directbet ignores all posts, emails, and support requests.

Completely unprofessional way to treat customers, support, and overall run a btc related site.

Listen to all the bad posts and stay away from this book.

So, they get the funds but claim the user tried to scam (them? someone else?) and then keep the funds as punishment for the attempt. Is that right?

If they actually have the funds are they saying the scam attempt failed? What are they saying exactly?

There is no excuse for imposing a penalty that involves confiscating deposited funds.

I don't know enough about double spending to be certain what is going on here. How much of an issue is this for players at other books?

How easy is it to 'accidentally' double spend? Really. Genuinely.

Your post is 100% correct. DirectBet is saying the attempt failed and they keep money as a punishment for something that can be innocent. If they accept the money and confirm the bet, then they should pay the winnings.

DirectBet is the only book bitcoin book that works this way. The reason for it is a flawed system on their part. This will continue to happen. It's inevitable because of the way they book bets.

An accidental double spend will not happen. The ledger may show it as an attempted double spend even though it wasn't attempted. It's not that uncommon.

As you said, a book should never keep money as a punishment even if the player is guilty.

If you are in contact with anyone who has had this happen it would be good to get a complaint submitted so SBR can learn the details first hand.

I'd downgrade them and put out a warning fast if this sort of practice is common.

I know you have mentioned it before but I've never realized you meant confiscating deposits.

I had that one issue with them never receiving the BTC on a winning bet due to my wallet issue but I did get it back and I cant faulty them for that and they gave me a small free bet too for inconvenience...other then that I have used them 100's of times with no issues and I have even tried there wallet as it guarantees that there wont be any issues like raider has posted and it also sends and they take care of miners fee which is nice when sending mega small bets...There CS has been good....Raiders posts though make me nervous of making bigger wagers with them as most of mine are smaller horse plays...I wonder if optional can try to open a dialogue w them to make sure they work w sbr disputes ect..
