Plus earlier today, picked up a bull pen guy from the Brewers, Thornburg.

Guess he has good stuff, strike out guy.

Maybe Price will start earning his pay??

ortiz now gone, they're giving the 3rd base job to pablo sandoval and relying on hanley ramirez to duplicate his somewhat stellar season (for him) at 1st. pedroia aging quickly and bogaerts had a miserable last 2 months. traded their 1b-3b shaw for an elbow plagued reliever and have issues behind the plate. outfield fairly well set but they were lucky with injuries last year and depth could be an issue.

As Jays fan, I kind of wish the owners had locked out the players.

We can't lose if we can't play.

Well sure, I'm just saying you never know. Sale is very talented, but it's not without risk. Nonetheless, he's on a 3/40 deal right now so that is tremendous value obviously. If he was a FA, he'd command 200 and 30+ per.

Not a bad trade. Moncada displayed some swinging issues and between him and Benitendi I think Benitendi is the better out of the two. Kopech would have been a hit for the Sox to lose but he isn't ready anyway and Moncada wouldn't have broken into the team in 2017 anyway.
They can't rely on Porcello having a career year again as well but it'll be interesting to see how Sale goes pitching at Fenway.

Red Sox just stole Chris Sale. Moncada is not that great. I know he is young 21 but last year he had 19 at bats in the majors and struck out 12 times. He also struck out a ton in the minors, in 405 at bats he struck out 124 times. Chris Sale is one of the best pitchers in baseball. The Red Sox just won the division. Price, Sale, Porcello, Pomerantz and Buckholtz is a damn good starting five, oh don't forget
Wright who won 13 games. They already added Mitch Moreland from Texas to fill in at the DH. That's 95-100 wins Barring ton's of injuries. Great moves by the Red Sox!

With 7 2/3 scoreless innings Saturday, Chris Sale's career ERA vs the Yankees is 1.17 (lowest for any pitcher with 50 innings against them)
