    If called safe on the field, then safe
    If called out on the field, then out

    So basically MLB saying they dont know shit

    Replay is 100x more accurate than a call made by a human in real time, why even give a fck what the umpire ruled it?

    Problem is its impossible for the replay officials not to know what the call was. If they didn't know before hand, instead of focusing on ways to uphold the call, they'd get more right.

    sober up....you need to look at EVERYTHING....

    Three things here...
    1. There was no shot that clearly showed that the catcher did NOT get him on the forearm
    2. You could not tell for certain that he actually touched the plate with his fingers or if he hovered over the plate before the tag
    3. Unless it is clear and convincing, you have to go with the call on the field

    That call was correct

    I'm fine with that, Angel Hernandez is fukkin terrible. Good thing the review ump isn't in LA, he'd be hanging from the roof by now. Brutal call, took a run and momentum. MLB needs to get rid of replay if they're not gonna overturn a play like this.

    I totally agree with you except for the fact that they showed a replay after the review was called that I'm betting the umps never saw. At first, I thought his hand was above the plate. However, when they showed it from a different angle after the call was reviewed it clearly showed his hand was on the plate before being tagged.

    I didn't see a single review that showed hand on plate for sure before tag. You can tell when his hand actually touched because it stops moving down and that was after tag was applied. This is the same as football. The call on the field couldn't be over turned because there wasn't clear video evidence. Didn't matter what call was. Safe or out.

    I didn't either until after the review was decided. I just tried to rewind my DVR but it's expired. Maybe they'll show it again.

    The replay was not 100% clear, so call stands. First, it looked like there might have been some contact before the full contact on face. And second, besides that, it wasn't clear if hands was over or on base. Especially at home, they only overturn when 100% clear. If he had been called safe, that would have stood too.

    If you are just guessing plain without a stand or overturn, you might say it's more than 50/50 safe. But that's not how it works. Has to be 100% to overturn.

    this would solve the problem of partiality and it would be possible for the replay official to not know what the call was. Just have the people at replay office not watch the game in real time.

    Lol @ people defending the replay ump. 2 umps told Gonzalez they thought the review showed he was safe, Maddon said he right it'd be overturned. The guy blew it, a lead would have been huge for LA and easily coulda changed the outcome. No doubt in my mind this idiot had another motive for this call. He's one of very few people who know anything about baseball that would not have overturned it.

    Are you sure his fingers are on the base and not just over it? Maybe. Not certain. Bottom part of glove might even be touching in this shot, or before. If you have to parse the frames, the call stands. Not certain = call stands.

    Why exactly? World Series at Wrigley so much more historic. Dodgers fans don't even sell out playoff games. Plus, Cubs play much cleaner baseball and more interesting players.
