CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Cubs plan to call up infield prospect Addison Russell.
Russell has played just five games at second base, but the Cubs have apparently seen enough that they think he's ready to help at the position in the majors. It certainly wouldn't be hard for him to represent an upgrade, as journeyman Jonathan Herrera has been seeing most of the playing time there of late. Russell is just 21, but he's a career .301/.377/.520 hitter so far in the minors and the consensus among scouts is that his bat his major league-ready. He needs to be owned in all fantasy leagues.
