Nationals probably have the most well rounded line up from top to bottom.

Mariners a close 2nd with pure power and RBI producers with Cano, Cruz and Seager. If they can get Austin Jackson, Logan Morrison and Dustin Ackely to play to their potential...they could be the front runner of these three times by far.

The mariners organization is terrible and it works its way down to the players.
This team does not have the correct mentality and it shows over the course of
the season. A lot of players with potential--damn shame they don't have the
organizational pieces in place to maximize what they do have.

There was a great article on the Seattle organization featured in last year's Baseball Prospectus. I highly recommend
picking up this year's Prospectus if you are serious about baseball and wagering on it. It's not an end-all resource, but
it is a useful resource to refer to as a base guide.

    Mariners line-up should look like

    1. Jackson CF .272 10 HR's
    2. Ackley LF .284 4 HR's
    3. Cano 2B .329 23 HR's
    4. Cruz DH .261 45 HR's
    5. Seager 3B .312 34 HR's
    6. Smith RF .286 22 HR's
    7. Zunino C .255 17 Hr's
    8. Morrison 1B .248 12 Hr's
    9. Taylor SS .262 7 HR's

those are my projected batting averages and HR totals per player.

Mariners play in the AL and in a more hitter friendly park. Mariners.

It's a book about the same size and thickness as the yellow pages.

Bear, I respectfully disagree with your Mariner predictions. You have Cruz hitting 45 hrs?
He logged in a personal record number of ab's last year and managed 40. He's gone from the
HR friendly AL east to the AL west. I'd guess that he hits just under 30 hrs.

Mariners have been my favorite team since I was knee high. The current organizational
culture is terrible. This is not an organization that knows how to play winning baseball
for an entire season. Ownership are losers and it trickles down, ultimately resulting in
MLB players showing up with the same intensity as NBA players.

Lloyd McClendon seems like a good coach. And they won 87 games last season.

with the addition of Nelson Cruz and Seth Smith along with the continued progress of Taijuan Walker, Jonathan Paxton, and If JA Happ pitches the way he pitched in August/ September they may have something. That Ellias Lefty is pretty decent too. That may bump them up to 97 wins.

whatever happened to starting pitcher Young? that big goofy 6 10 foot guy.. he still around?

Aight so one of the reasons for making this thread is I'm trying to get as much feedback and opinions as possible before i head to Vegas in March.

I am going to place a futures bet as an investment opportunity as well as making the regular season more interesting to watch. ( I live in a city with no MLB team and I have no favorite team)

As many of you can relate to.... baseball is alot more exciting to watch when you have a team to follow.

    I am considering the following

Mariners 20 to 1 ( If King Felix ever gets an opportunity to pitch in the post season LOOK OUT!)

Cubs 20 to 1 ( how quickly can the young stars adapt to MLB level?)

Nationals 6 to 1 ( more depth and proven ace)

Dodgers 7.5 to 1 (better defense this year)

Tigers 12 to 1 ( Verlander supposedly is re-inventing himself... no more just trying to over power hitters. He is supposedly working on a 2 seamer and will pitch at a lower velocity this season but in turn be more effective.
Shane Greene and Anibal Sanchez are a pretty solid #3 and #4 option.

ofcourse if i take the Nationals at 6 to 1 they are virtually a lock to make the playoffs

and whoever they face in the 1st series of the playoffs will probably be atleast +200 to win the Series so there will be an opportunity to hedge and get back some of my initial investment should they get ousted in the first round again.

    Good luck, Bear.

I am waiting for season win totals, which is the only long term bet I like to make.

I am interested in the Royals, Mariners, Athletics, and Padres win totals.

I am hoping to bet under on the Royals, M's, and Padres, and potentially over on the Athletics. Essentially, I am hoping that there is an overreaction to last season or a combination of last season's success and offseason acquisitions.

    We shall see.

There's others that will be interesting too, I just feel that I have a good bead on these teams and may be able to extract some value should the bookies release win totals that reflect the public's optimism.

I hear ya on the Padres under..

they are getting a ton of hype.

Wil Myers replacing Seth Smith is not an upgrade IMO.

Padres are reportedly interested in James Shields though and if they get him that pitching rotation is all the sudden very solid. Cashner and Shields are a pretty good 1-2 punch.
