Cubs are going to be one of the best offensive teams in the league soon.

    But no pitching.

    Baez
    Soler
    Bryant
    Castro
    Rizzo
that alcantrata or whatever his name is

i'm not sure about the Troy comparison

I'd think he'd get a sept 40 man roster call up in a few days, but i'm not sure

Thats a nice lineup. I'd think about 20 ks per game for the opposing pitcher

Here's an interesting stat: Soler is the first in MLB history to have an extra base hit and RBI in each of his first four games. Weird that's never happened.

Good young offensive talent. Add a few veterans with decent stats at catcher, OF and 2B to round out your line up plus sign a few stud starters and the wild card next year will be a reality.

They have one good starter, Jake Arietta. Hopefully they can pick up some more through free agency and/or by trading a little of their new found hitting glut. I would like to see them trade Starlin Castro.

I guess when you are a Homer you get it both ways. Baez can't hit his way out of a paper bag BUT "it's early" and "just wait". Another hopeful gets called up and he's the second coming already after a handful of games.

    Good stuff

I got another interesting stat or two for ya. The Chicago Cubs haven't won a World Series since 1908. Haven't been to a World Series since the end of freaking World War II. They won't win the World Series next year. Or the year after that. Or the year after that. Or the year after that.....

That's all??? Are you sure you didn't miss anything? What about getting a quality bull pen coach?

Hope the Cubbies at least make the playoffs in the next handful of years. They have the money to keep these young guns, right?

Theo can do the job, one of, if not the toughest divisions in the bigs unfortunately for them.

Theo sucks. His glorious "Five Year Plan" needs an additional ten years. Any real owner would shit can his ass when his FIVE YEAR contract is up shortly just looking at what has happened to this point. Add the fact they are NOWHERE near WS contenders. Theo revamped the minor leagues and Baez comes up after two and a half years under THEO and doesn't have a clue at the plate.

Maybe a Boston fan can chime in on the reality of what Theo did there. Not too mention the rules of baseball are now different and what Theo pulled in the past cannot happen again.

Well, can't really expect the Cubs to be contenders that quick with the disaster they have been. So hard to win in major sports especially baseball.

His swing and lightning hands seem very Vlad-like, though he is willing to take a walk and won't expand too often.

I don't care about numbers. I saw Polanco. Have you seen Soler's AB's?

Only time will tell, but Polanco didn't start anywhere near this hot though. In fact, his average was never over .400, it took him 21 games to hit 3 HR's (Soler had 3 in his first 3) and Polanco had his 7th extra base hit in game 40. Soler now has 7 extra base hits in under 5 games. So, yeah, maybe not so comparable.

Polanco just started very consistent with a 10 or 11 game hit streak, but he had very little power/extra base hits or RBI during that period

Could be. I don't think he'll hit for avg quite like Tulo, but he's got way more power. He has a natural home run stroke. Soler is developing the same way too. Throw in Baez and Rizzo, and assuming injuries don't pile up, Cubs are almost certainly going to break some team HR records.
