Prediction October 2014: Brian Cashman fired by the Yankees (if no playoffs)

i think next winter the Yanks..
instead of poaching Free Agents from other teams... (if Yanks miss playoffs)
will make the smarter move of trying to poach
one of the more creative GMs from the teams
that seem to do more with less, year after year..

The Red Sox went after Billy Beane (as documented in Moneyball)
they didn't get him but copied that brand.. and did very well..
Three World Series in 9 yrs.

The Yanks have the problem of overpaying everyone..
once you have a several or majority of players at premium salaries,
difficult to coax other top FAs to get on board without accepting
something commensurate with the rest of team.

People need to stop mistaking very expensive for very good.

If the Yanks make the playoffs this year, Cashman is ok.
If they don't.. he is OUT.

i called this way back in April....

CAshman is gonna get canned... Yanks no playoffs... this year, or next year..
and Cashman (even with all that cash) is called O-U-T at home

putting this kinda of money in... and all those trades.. and still nothing.

    yikes

lol... what is really great about this Titanic sized disaster... is that it demonstrates to all,
that you need to be very intelligent, and insightful to assemble a great team..

the days of just rolling out the dough are gone. GM need to be smart, creative, as well
    as good poker players

Amen to that. it's about time

Cashman is terrible. no insight whatsoever..
Yanks would be smart to "can the cash-man"

i think he deserves to be gone..

but given how stupid the brass is.. pretty good chance he stays

forget it.. Jeter already can't stand the games.. i can tell you for a fact, he is DONE with sitting
in a dugout. He will invest IN a team.. he will not spend time at ballparks in a uniform.

    Zero
    chance of that

I hate the Yankees but Pineda is a stud..Has great motion, can throw strikes, elusive...Probably has a blob of brown goop on him somewhere however.

They showed a graphic of all the Yankee acquisitions late in the season so far, they've added guys who for the most part have been pretty good. Credit to the decision makers there. I may not be thrilled with how my Red Sox office has performed as of late, but the Yankees are always a threat to be the world's most expensive train wreck..pulling for the O's!

100% agreed, I love it. It was so interesting...the year after Boston dumps all their high priced players, they win the world series

I was talking about OP, he always rambles on a fukkton on his thread and tells something pretty much everybody knows like Lebron is the best player in the NBA

then he tries to make a prediction like that miami was winning the finals last year, gets completely destroyed then leavesq

love the Oriole vibe...!! Go O's!!

i love any team with a resourceful GM,
who manages to put together a great team with a small team payroll
    (against all odds)

they are just fun teams, the players get into it, like NCAA tournament
they really play their hearts out

    love that

The Yanks are garbage.. but no one is to blame more that their stupid fans..
these guys 'actually' believed that this team was going to be good...
and that you don't need to do anything to win a World Series except shell out a ton of money.

yes. Yankee fans. The Yanks have to do your homework too.. this team is hilarious.
The best part of last nights game was watching the lame Yankee faithful,
get up and leave .. even as Carter was rounding the bases!!!

    LOL,
    they KNEW it was 'O-V-A-H'

..and it certainly was... 1-2-3 went the "Mighty Yankees"

    too funny..

wow.. the Yanks just keep on giving.. and giving... and giving...

before losing to the Bee-Jays 2-0 (1 hit) yesterday..
Derek Jeter, when asked about the 2nd wildcard spot..

responded that they were still aiming for the Division title

glad to see Boston up 7-1,
they need this game much more than the Yanks

if the Red Sox are going to get back in the race, this series is a must-win

looks like i was right AND wrong..1) Yanks will definitely miss the playoffs for the second year in a row (hilarious cosindering their resources)2) Cashman job is 100% safe (new reports) which is awesome. that meant this will go on-and-on for as long as he is there, and maybe a handfulof years after he leaves. The days of buying an instant winner are over.

You serious who would do a better job than Cashman in NY? with the pressure and everything else he's done a good job most others would fail
