Home Run Derby Rules

Round One: 10 contestants, each player gets 10 outs per at bat; top four advance

Round Two: 4 contestants, each players gets 10 outs per at bat; top two advance

Round Three/Championship: 2 contestants, each players gets 5 outs per at bat

An out is registered when a player swings at a pitch and does not hit a home run. A ball hit over the fence must be fair to count as a home run.
Since a home run does not count as an out, an infinite number of home runs is possible.
Format

Round One

Order of hitting will be reverse order of regular season home run total, alternating by League affiliation.

League champion decided after first round: total of home runs hit by each League's five representatives.

Round Two

Four players with highest number of home runs in Round One advance to Round Two (regardless of League affiliation).
If a tie exists among players for advancement into Round Two, the following tie-breakers will be used:

Tie breaker #2: distance of longest home run in Round One.
Players in Round Two hit in reverse order of tally in Round One (player with most home runs in first round hits last).
Round Three (Championship)
Two players with highest number of home runs in Round Two advance to Round Three (regardless of League affiliation).
If a tie exists among players for advancement into the Round Three, the following tie-breakers will be used:
Tie-breaker #1: tally in Round One
Tie-breaker #2: regular season home run total at All-Star break;
Tie-breaker #3: distance of longest home run in Round Two.
Players in Round Three hit in reverse order of tally in Round Two (player with most home runs in Round Two hits last).
Championship tie-breaker
IF THE TWO FINALISTS HIT THE SAME NUMBER OF HOME RUNS IN ROUND THREE, THE HOME RUN DERBY WILL GO INTO EXTRA INNINGS. RULES ARE NOTED BELOW:

Players will hit in the same order they hit in Round Three.
Players will hit as many home runs as they can before reaching their third out
IF THE TWO FINALISTS HIT THE SAME NUMBER OF HOME RUNS IN EXTRA INNINGS, THE HOME RUN DERBY WILL GO INTO THE "HOME RUN DERBY SHOWDOWN". RULES ARE NOTED BELOW:

Players will hit in the same order they hit in "Extra Innings" round.
Each player will get one swing. If one player hits a home run and the other makes an out, the player who hits the home run is the Champion. If they both make an out or both hit a home run, the process will be repeated until one player hits a home run and the other makes an out.
