    Great MLB card today!!!!

    Hell yeah!

we got so many aces pitchers going today...

    Hamels
    Cueto
    Lester
    Corbin
    Kershaw
    Miller
    Sabbathia
    Iwakuma

which one do u trust the most?

Not Hamels and not CC. Like Cueto but not sure i want to back him in his first start back. Probably Kershaw, Lester and Miller in that order, in my humble opinion. BOL whatever you decide.

i agree kershaw, lester , miller.

what about patrick corbin? can he get it done today at coors field? I worry about the altitude messing up his deuce.

At risk of sounding like a homer prob miller, not that he the best of the group but cueto fresh off the dl, dodgers are terrible and mil 1st 4 hitters have pretty good numbers vs lefties, Corbin? Is he a ace? Either way he at coors and u can't trust any pitcher there, iwakuma has a offensively challenged team playing a red hot team, cc fat(lol), not sure if I can poke holes in Lester or not.

that said I doubt cards score a lot of runs either, under prob worth a look in sd..

Lotta under umps on tap, too, but there are two over umps with whom we need to be concerned: Holbrook (was supposed to work Dickey/CC Sunday) and Guccione. I won't play an under with Holbrook.

Agree, it's highly unlikely that Holbrook's crew would be shipped out west. Obviously, he also is unlikely to be in Toronto or Baltimore either since his crew just worked Jays/Yanks series. It's a weird day in that we have 4-5 umps with serious under (Iassogna, Bellino, Miller) and over (Holbrook, Gooch) leanings and it's a Monday so tons of series are starting. I'd honestly rather not go contra the leanings on any of those guys unless everything else is compelling (and Holbrook, Iassogna and Bellino, never). I am going to avoid totals on 7 pm games because i won't be around to evaluate when umps are announced (i'm out from 5-7:15 or so tonight). Will be stalking the hell outta some umps for 8 pm, 10 pm games.

Geez everyone of these guys are on the road today? Anyways Shelby & Iwakuma have been good to me so far, but the frrekin Indians are on a roll. As bad as the ChiSOX are, Lester could be the play?

like Marlins/Phillies under quite a bit. i would be a little concerned about Cards/Pads simply because i could see Cards hanging 5-6 on Marquis. like Nats/Giants over late so long as we don't get stuck with one of the under umps.

I wasn't aware of there being refs involved in MLB ? If what your dumb ass meant was umps you are correct last I checked they are not allowed to hit the ball..however if u may have noticed they do call balls and strikes which kinda directly relates to a pitchers success, if we can agree this is true can we not make the apparent stretch to assume a ump w a unusually small or large k zone could influence the gm somewhat at least? Maybe not I guess but I know much smarter ppl than u that have whole books/spreadsheets/ect on umps and I'd be willing to bet they all better at this than u..

Sorta I guess? just cannot remeber the last time I heard and Ump blow a whistle LOL! But as what 2dabank said above. There is a site: I think its ajs plays, that has the umps stats. And is helpful in some of the process of capping totals.

Got the Indians under, was hoping to get it at 8.5 but seems to be sitting at 8-115-120 so took it. And more if it goes up a half. Also for some reason I feel confident in backing Dickey today and the Jays so went on that myself.

These 2 pitched against each other on the 28th of April and the final was 4-2. I would say you're crazy and just go with Milwaukee game under and Indians

I don't fight with strangers online, but umps are one of the most underrated aspects of bases capping. It doesn't matter every game, but it matters. Just a few weeks ago, I listened to Braves/Royals day game that finished 1-0. The umps talked the entire game about how ridiculous Doug Eddings' strike zone was. Well, the joke was on everyone else - i and plenty of others knew that game was going under the night before. Under is something like 24-6 L30 Eddings day games.

Quote Originally Posted by goodlucky30 View Post

Strike zone. An ump with a high strike % might call 65-66% strikes, while one with a low strike % might call 59-60%. What's 5%, you ask? Well, in a game with 250-300 pitches, that could be 15 strikes. Why's that a big difference, you ask? One or two strikes an inning can be huge and kill rallies. Perhaps more importantly, the ump's strike zone gets in the heads of the hitters/pitchers. Pitchers have to groove pitches to get a strike sometimes vs knowing that they can nibble at the corners, while hitters have to expand their zone and swing at pitches vs knowing that they can be selective. By the 6th inning of the Braves/Royals game I mentioned, guys were swinging at pitches nowhere close (and of course doing nothing with them).

BOL to you today. To each his own, but i think that it's crazy to bet totals without at least knowing that you'll avoid a dead over or under ump when you like the opposite.

The under is still a good play though, right? Kershaw's last line vs. the Brewers earlier this year: 8.0 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 12 K's.
