Joke Marlins close upper deck during games

    http://miami.cbslocal.com/2013/05/08...or-some-games/

They're doing it to save money.
What a heist these guys pulled on Miami. And now the Dolphins want a new stadium? Good fukkin luck

It does save alot of money. If the Upper Deck is open then you need concessions on each side of the stadium AND you need adequate security everywhere. Only bad things could happen when only a few people are on the Upper Deck. I would assume that you would need at least 5000 people sitting in the Upper Deck to even make it worthwhile to open

The issue here isnt closing the upper deck...or that they're using the parking garages as storage and the city suing them for it.....

it's that they have to resort to this after spending BILLIONS on the fukkin park!

I am personally shocked they are drawing as many fans as they are currently drawing. If I were living in Miami, no way in the world I would spend any money to go to that ballpark and support that franchise. I would not want to give Jeffrey Lorie a single dollar of mine. I think it is fairly obvious, that baseball in the state of Florida does not work. Either move the two teams OR contract them. Keep them in the South and move them to Charlotte and maybe Nashville.

A lot of teams don't do it because it takes jobs away from people. Even though these teams are run by individuals/groups, they are still very public and when a large number of people lose jobs, then it looks even worse.

The location is horrid and for the first part of last year before the sell-off, there was no parking. I guess we don't have to worry about that now.

I think Oakland has done it too at the coliseum. I do see a few people in one section of the upper deck there above home plate but for the most part the upper deck is just a tarp with athletics written on it.

Oakland didn't just hijack the tax payers for hundreds of millions of dollars. I can understand doing it in Oakland's case where the stadium is multi-purpose and seats 60k+
