I'm breaking down the Red Sox / Yankee game tonight: very odd stat

Red Sox starter Aaron Cook has three strike outs in 36 innings pitched.
    I don't think I've ever seen a 1:12 K ratio before.

yep, hes got that turbo sinker going. I believe hes throwing it more than twice as much as he ever did with the Rockies, as he used to mix in a slider and a 4-seamer too during those years. he'll throw an off-speed pitch very rarely this year, maybe in an 0-2 count

I hope for their sake that the Yankees have figured out how to score runs without the home-run ball because I'd be surprised to see him give up many if he gets that sinker going

    I'm thinking Sox myself.
I don't and ever will trust Phil Hughes, and I'm a die hard Yankee fan.

His numbers this year are pretty decent but when I watch him pitch I feel like its all smoke and mirrors. Whenever I watch him he seems to throw a lot of 90-94mph fastballs and a lot of strikes, its a dangerous mix.

It's a good matchup for the Sox here, aside from Ortiz (who obviously wont be playing) and Nava none of the hitters on that team have any plate discipline this year and like to swing early in the count. Hughes might be the perfect guy to do that against

I'm looking forward to Middlebrooks' at-bats, the kid absolutely smokes fastballs, its too bad he cant touch anything else. He's like a less disciplined version of Cespedes

2010 was smoke and mirrors for Hughes.
Won 18 games, had an unheard of 9.60 run support.
Ray Charles can win 18 games with an offense that scores on the average of 9.60 runs each and every game he starts too.
Hughes wasn't top ten anything (except wins) in 2010, his WAR was sub 2 that year, Verlander won 18 games also that year, his value was more than double that.
