In preparing this college football betting schedule analysis, we chose to use betting data from the post-Pete Carroll years (2010-2013) thinking those figures most accurately reflected a college football powerhouse and public betting favorite struggling to get back to their former glory.

USC brings in new head coach Steve Sarkisian, and he brings Pac-12 experience and an up-tempo offense that will challenge USC’s traditional betting Totals numbers.

This series is completely split: Both teams are 2-2 ATS overall, 1-1 ATS at Home, with the Total going Over twice and Under twice (again, split at each location). USC is 0-4 ATS in road-openers and 1-3 ATS in Pac-12 openers.

09/13/14

Boston College

(Alumni Stadium)

USC beat BC handily, both SU and ATS last season in the Coliseum. The Total went Under on the opening line, but Over on the closing line. USC is just 2-5 ATS in non-conference Away games.

09/27/14

Oregon State

Los Angeles, CA

10/4/14

Arizona State

Los Angeles, CA

(Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum)

USC is 1-3 ATS vs. ASU, but 1-1 ATS at Home. In USC’s three ATS losses, they failed to cover the spread by an AVERAGE of 13.5 points. In the Trojans’ one ATS victory, they beat the SPREAD by 11 points. The Total went Over in three of the four games, but again, in LA, the Total was split.

10/11/14

Arizona

Tucson, AZ

(Arizona Stadium)

USC is 2-2 ATS vs. Arizona, but the line direction (from the opening to closing betting line) indicated the correct side all four times. The Total went Over in three of the four games, including the last three.

10/18/14

Colorado

Los Angeles, CA

(Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum)

USC is 2-1 ATS vs. CU. The Total went Over in two of the three contests, but the one Under was in LA That game went Under the Total by 1.5 points while the other two games went Over by an AVERAGE of 12.25 points.

10/25/14

Washington State

Pullman, WA

11/13/14

California

Los Angeles, CA

(Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum)

USC is 4-0 ATS vs. Cal, beating the SPREAD by an AVERAGE of 16.625 points per game. The Total is perfectly split with one Over and one Under in each location. The Trojans are 2-2 ATS after a bye week.

UCLA

Pasadena, CA

(Rose Bowl)

While USC is 2-2 ATS vs. their crosstown rival, the Trojans are 0-2 ATS since Jim Mora Jr. arrived in Westwood. The two most recent games have not been close as the Bruins beat the SPREAD by an average of 20 points, despite getting LESS THAN 40% of the public betting on their side! The Total has gone Under in three of the four games (1-1 with Mora).

11/29/14

Notre Dame

Los Angeles, CA

(Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum)

USC is 1-3 ATS vs. cross-country rival ND, including going 0-2 ATS in the Coliseum. The Total has gone Under all four times. The average combined score in those four games was 35.75 points, yet the average closing Total was 51.625.
