After being trashed last week by LSU, look for a strong effort tonight from Sylvester Croom's Bulldogs when Mississippi State travels to Tulane to take on the Green Wave.

I'm laying the points with Mississippi State at Tulane on Saturday. The Bulldogs self-destructed against LSU from the final minute of the first half through the end of the game. In fact, MSU trailed just 10-0 until the final 60 seconds of the second quarter.

But no team can overcome the ridiculous turnovers MSU committed, especially against a team of LSU's caliber. This week, Sylvester Croom's Bulldogs take on a team at an entirely different level... and it's not a good one. The Green Wave were out-gained by 118 yards per game in C-USA action last year, the league's worst mark. Bob Toledo steps in as the new head coach and, along with his staff, is trying to implement completely new schemes on both sides of the line of scrimmage. The problem is that he has subpar talent and just five returning starters on the offensive side of the ball.

Tulane is also in two unenviable situations. First of all they're playing their first game of the season against an opponent who has already played a game. Secondly, they'll face an embarrassed MSU offense who, with nine returning starters, were expecting big things in 2007. Many believe MSU has a shot at a bowl berth this season, but they have to put it together right now. I believe they will with a big win on Saturday. I'm laying the points with Mississippi State.

Free Pick: Mississippi State -5½
