Trying to keep their top spot in the Mountain West Conference, Texas Christian sets its sight on a win over Brigham Young at Cowboys Stadium. Having followed the line all week long, see who we make our ATS pick for the matchup.

In my spread opener article we looked closely at the early college football odds for Friday, noting that the opening line was at 11.5 with the Horned Frogs the favorites. It moved to 13 and now has risen as high as 14 at some NCAAF betting sites, including Bodog

Casey PachallAfter that was out of the way, it was time to evaluate how we should bet the total and we determined that the OVER looked the smarter pick given that TCU has often gotten in shootouts this season.

So now here we are. It's time to make our final college football pick for the game.

The TCU Horned Frogs are currently 5-2, but a 3-0 conference record has them in first place in the MWC, ahead of even #4 Boise State (7-0, 2-0) for the time being.

They beat up on New Mexico last week, winning 69-0. It was the most points scored in a single game by TCU in school history, but the team's defense was equally as dominant. They held the Lobos to just 85 yards of total offense.

Horned Frogs have owned Cougars the past few years

BYU is on a bit of a roll as well, having won five straight ahead of Friday's game at Cowboys Stadium. Their latest win was a 56-3 rout of Idaho State at home.

If recent games between the Cougars and TCU are anything to go by, however, it could be a long night for Brigham Young.

Back in 2008 the Horned Frogs won 32-7, followed by a 38-7 victory on the road in 2009 and then last year's 31-3 triumph at home again. Maybe the only thing going for the Cougars is that they've covered ATS in five straight games in which they were the underdogs.

And underdogs they certainly are for Friday.

Though BYU's Riley Nelson has played exceptionally well since taking over the starting gig, you have to give the edge to TCU in the quarterback department.

Casey Pachall has made Horned Frogs fans forget all about Andy Dalton, throwing 17 touchdown passes in seven games already this season. His QB rating is an impressive 165.2 and he's only gotten picked off on four occasions.

Few can stop TCU from piling up the points

The sophomore QB been an instrumental reason why TCU is ranked eighth in the country in points scored, with the boys from Forth Worth averaging 43.6 points a game. And I think Pachall's play will be what leads the Horned Frogs to the ATS cover on Friday.

BYU has come out and played well at times, but I don't see their offense keeping up with TCU's in this one. Gary Patterson's crew can beat you through the air and on the ground and I see them dropping at least 35 points on the Cougars here.

One important thing Patterson will have to gameplan for is containing Nelson in the pocket. He's proven he's not afraid to pull the ball down and run with it if pressured and that could terrorize TCU if they don't stay focused.

Regardless, in front of a national audience and what will likely be a TCU-favored crowd, the Horned Frogs should manage a relatively easy victory to please their backers.

They will consequently be my college football pick for Friday.
