Prior to PartyGaming's merge with Bwin, PartyGaming refused to cooperate with SBR citing data protection laws. PartyGaming would provide only cursory background of complaints, unable to share specific evidence with SBR in support of its conclusions. After the PartyGaming/Bwin merger, the consolidated company began to address all sportsbook disputes in a prompt and fair manner.
A common complaint of both PartyGaming and Bwin users has been each sportsbook's identity verification. PartyGaming sportsbooks---like all sportsbooks with a bonus model---enforces KYC (know your customer) requirements. SBR has confirmed multiple instances of forgery carried out by a ring of Ukraine-based scammers who set their sights on the Austrian bookmakers. SBR's biggest concern in the past has been legitimate users being mislabeled as scammers due to their region or incidental details.
Bwin itself is one of the most financially stable sportsbook companies in the world. Legitimate users funds are not considered to be at risk. SBR will continue to advise PartyGaming/Bwin on player handling and sportsbook complaints. Bwin's sportsbook rating has been upgraded to C+.

A Bwin (SBR rating C-) player reports having a €50 wager canceled. The player bet €50 on a WTA match between Jelena Jankovic and Andrea Petkovic. The wager was on Jankovic at +260 in the fifth game of the first set. The player claims that the odds were inline with previous games during the match. After the bet won, the player claims that Bwin canceled his bet.
SBR is investigating this sportsbook complaint.
Bwin is a C- rated sportsbook based in Vienna, Austria. On July 7th, SBR reported that PartyGaming and Bwin planned to merge.

SBR has received 5 similiar Bwin (SBR rating C-) complaints. In each complaint, players' accounts were closed without notice by Bwin. Bwin later stated to SBR that it declines all hand written ID's from Ukraine and Russia, and that ID's must be machine readadable. SBR is continuing its discussion with Bwin on its customer service.

Bwin (SBR rating C-) has closed two unrelated players account citing security reasons. The first player wagered €177 on a soccer match between Ethnikos Asteras and Piertikos. Bwin locked the player out of the account and stated that an investigation was being conducted into his account, providing no further details. After two weeks Bwin offered to reinstate the players account only if he agreed to cancel the Asteras vs Piertikos bet. The player refused and inquired why the bet could not be settled correctly. Bwin stated that it was waiting for an official ruling that the match was not suspected to have been suspicious from the 'ESSA Organization'. Bwin refunded the players deposits and has claimed it would return the player's winnings if the match was deemed 'regular'.
A second player writes to SBR that after placing a string of Badminton wagers, his account was randomly closed for security purposes. No additional information was provided to the player as to the reason for the account freeze. SBR has written Bwin on both cases.

Bwin (SBR rating C-) cancelled a live tennis wager citing an input error, voiding €420 in winnings. The player bet an in-game wager on Agnes Szavay risking €60 at 7/1. After the match concluded Bwin cancelled the wager. At the time the wager was placed, Betfair (SBR rating A+) had odds from +620 to +520. This does not appear to be a case of an obvious input error. SBR has contacted Bwin to address the dispute.

SBR Forum posters point out that new sportsbook, WBEXonline, very much resembles Shilbet. Both used the same server with very similar IP addresses. Shilbet was known for offering weak lines and targeting UK players while operating from Costa Rica, as is the case with WBEX. Poster Champi also points out that the sportsbook has copied bwin (SBR rating C-) website url tags and rules pages. Whether a reincarnation of scam-book Shilbet or a new book run by inexperienced management, WBEXonline shows classic warning signs of a sportsbook that will eventually fail, taking player funds with it. | WBEXonline discussion

The sportsbook credited the player in the form of a bonus and did not credit all players for winning wagers that were placed after the scheduled start time yet before the game began. These bettors should continue to write to SBR. Any bwin players who have a losing wager that was placed even one minute after the book's listed post time, are also encouraged to contact SBR.

3/12/09 report). During further discussion bwin changed its reason for canceling the bets from an "obvious line error" to leaving the game on the board after scheduled post time. bwin stated the player placed his wagers between one and five minutes after the game was scheduled to start. Canceling a winning wager after the game due to the fact that the sportsbook left the line up a few extra minutes is unacceptable. The practice allows the sportsbook to take wagers the player does not have a chance of winning. More importanly, SBR has shown bwin management that the game did not start until 8 minutes after the hour (

SBR's NBA Odds history shows the line was not far from market value and shuold not have been canceled as an error. It is not uncommon for the sportsbook to make wagering and account errors. Poor customer service on the makes it extremely difficult for players to address bwin disputes. Bwin management routinely works with SBR when inquries are brought to their attention. The player's funds are expected to be returned to him.

SBR routinely receives complaints from bwin players who have had their winnings or bonus confiscated and account closed without explanation. In most cases, bwin has taken just action against fraudulent players. In rare cases when the decision is questionable or the player has a valid wagering dispute, the bettor requires assistance escalating the matter to management. On November 16, a player bet on a halftime line of Gary Mawson (USA) - Kirk Shepherd (ENG) (2Way - Who will win?) Gary Mawson (USA) when Mawson was up 4-0, at odds of 1.1. Bwin canceled the bet without explanation after the event was finished. When SBR first contacted bwin, it stated that the wager was late after the line was supposed to be off the board. The player insisted that his wager was not past-posted and asked for proof. Bwin then admitted the wager was mistakenly canceled. SBR has advised bwin to open discussion with all players and allow each to respond to allegations of fraud, or change to a more manageable bonus program. |

The majority of complaints involve bwin closing accounts for various reasons without offering an explanation to the player. The player must then wait an extra month to receive his funds. Other complaints include bonus and wagering disputes. The sportsbook commonly agress to mediation and giving the player the benefit of any doubts. The volume of disputes can partly be attributed to the high rate of fraud. bwin markets free-money promotions causing its risk management department to closely review winners. bwin has been urged to improve communication with players directly and provide explanations when taking administrative actions.

The player has followed the line closely and believes the book cancels wagers when the line has moved in the player's favor. Competing bookmakers have stated that the price was in range of the betting market and that their line was similar at the time of the wager. 10Bet has not responded to the player's request to discuss the matter.

Your odds opened at 2.89 and was later slashed to 2.57, which I played. You currently offer 2.13. Nordicbet opened at 3.10, then slashed to 2.85, 2.65 and now offer 2.15. Bwin opened at 2.85 then slashed to 2.55 and now offer 2.10. There has been market changes on the match - but misprint? No way.
The Lyngbø match:
Your odds opened at 3.88 and was later slashed to 3.02 which I played. You currently offer 2.34. Nordicbet opened at 4.40 then slashed to 3.80, 3.45, 3.15 and now offer 2.35
Bwin opened at 3.80 then slashed to 3,00 and currently offer 2.30.
Again - obvious that it's just ***** that this was a typing mistake. Please respond to this message and re-activate my bets before the matches start.
SBR has asked 10Bet's General Manager to review the player's complaint and provide evidence that there was indeed an obvious error. A different 10bet user submitted a similar complaint two months earlier. Management defended 10bet's decision to cancel that wager prior to the match, saying that the line was temporarily moved the wrong way, opposite the changing market. The player and the book dispute whether the player bet the line in a window of a 30 seconds before the erroneous odds change was reversed.

The player complains that the sportsbook did not catch the error until the game was over and feels the wager should be honored. The bookmaker, previously known as BetAndWin, received multiple complaints of voided winning bets due to bad lines and bookmaking errors in the past but agreed to compensate these players at the end of last year. SBR has asked bwin to take responsibility for this latest error.

SBR Justin speaks with Bwin Wagering Director Frank Mahon about winning wagers that were canceled after the event for being a "bad line." Winning bets placed August 31st on Tampa Bay +7 and August 30th wagers on tennis player Monfils at 1.4 will be honored. SBR to resume discussions with Bwin regarding additional complaints of canceled bets. Bwin, formerly BetAndWin, will be reevaluated after all complaints have been addressed.

BAW, now called bwin, users are consistently submitting complaints that the sportsbook is voiding winning wagers well after the match has finished. Many recent complaints are the result of live-wagering bad lines. Few players are able to gauge what the correct market price should be, and therefore are unaware if in-game betting odds are offered in error. Players are referring to bwin’s practice of voiding bets on recent soccer matches and preseason NFL lines as "the bait and switch." Bwin offered Tampa Bay +7 for two days when the average market price was +3.5. After the game was played, bwin cancelled winning wagers on Tampa Bay citing their “bad line rule". Players who took Houston -7 in week four of the preseason are asked to contact SBR.
Player: Bwin take shot at players. It took bet on Tampabay and cancelled them after the match... say it was a bad line mistake. wtf is that??? This bookie get to gamble and when they lose they say oops!! sorry my mistake! they probably get new players to sign up this way too!!

The sportsbook has been downgraded from C to C- for failing to catch "bad line" errors until after the event has finished. BAW, now called bwin, is suspected of giving "bonus" credits to those who complain instead of settling all bets at the correct betting odds. Recent complaints include a voided win on a baseball bet because the book erroneously listed the incorrect date. Players who had a loss stand on an incorrectly listed BAW wager should contact SBR immediately. A 2nd complaint was recorded on ski jump proposition. Players who had a wager on ANDREAS KOFLER at 55:1 cancelled, without any credit, should contact SBR.
