07.30.2012 (01:41 PM CST)Multiple players have reported that their BetOnline accounts have been breached. The addition of BetOnline's poker room has been a catalyst for security issues. Twelve users have reported to SBR that their accounts were broken into. In all investigated cases BetOnline has credited players with the funds that were stolen and then laundered out through the poker platform. Three recently filed disputes are still under investigation. BetOnline has also received fake claims of hacking and has been able to prove these instances to fraudsters and Sportsbook Review. These players have been added to BetOnline's blacklist which is shared among online sportsbooks. SBR advises all players to reset their password to a random combination of numbers and letters that are not used at other websites. BetOnline states they are upgrading security features while they work to identify the source of these claims.

A BetOnline247 (SBR rating F) player tells SBR that he has been waiting for an €800 for four months. BetOnline247 players have reported not being paid more than €50,000. SBR has more than fifty complaints on file from users that were not paid. The sportsbook was included in the April 16th, 2011 report "Online scams, five sportsbooks to avoid".
Operating out of San Pedro, Costa Rica, BetOnline247 claims to be regulated by government of Costa Rica. The claim is not accurate; sportsbooks in Costa Rica are not given gaming licenses nor are their sportsbooks regulated by government officials. BetOnline247 targets European customers. The sportsbook was added to the scam sportsbook blacklist by Sportsbook Review.com on May 14th, 2011.

BetOnline has completed its audit of player four. The player's account has been reactivated and he is free to continue to play or request a withdrawal of his $65,000 balance.
BetOnline statement: "After an exhaustive and extensive investigation of the players activity we have taken the decision to honor the players claim to his winnings. As a new poker platform we believe it is essential to maintain the utmost security in our systems for the safety of our players and to conform to our regulatory obligations of our license. It's not a fast process but ultimately it is the fairest.

SBR has received complaints from four Betonline (SBR rating B+)
poker players that their payouts were on hold while they were audited for suspected chip dumping. The first dispute was resolved amicably. In the second dispute SBR has concluded, and the player has since confessed, chip dumping took place. The third dispute involves a player suspected of being part of a fraud ring. The largest case is from a player with a balance of $65,000, who has been open to review his hand history publicly.

BetOnline247 (SBR rating D-) has denied the payout request of a player that cashed in $239 after accepting a free bet promotion from the sportsbook in 2008. BetOnline247 accumulated a number of complaints from players that had their deposits refunded and winnings left in their account. On March 6th, BetOnline247 claimed that there was a pending ownership change and afterward all complaints would be settled. As of June 23rd, BetOnline247 stated that three players who submitted sportsbook complaints received payment - one player confirming receiving only a partial payout toward his balance owed.
BetOnline247 has claimed that the $20 free bet promotion the player accepted carried a $60 funding requirement before winnings could be withdrawn. However, after their website and ownership changes BetOnline247 is unable to point to any archived promotional rules or offer made to the player in this dispute. SBR has suggested that if BetOnline247 cannot produce any evidence supporting its position, that the player be paid his $239 balance. SBR will update this report pending BetOnline247's decision.

On June 9th BetOnline247 first contacted SBR stating that its website was back on-line and that the sportsbook intended to clear all player debt. The New York Police Department today announced the indictment of BetOnline principals on gambling charges. According to news conferences held by the NYPD and the NY District Attorney, charges are largely based on evidence of cash transactions that took place in the United States, including one paid in person to a winning bettor for over $500,000. Multiple alleged agents and credit websites were also named and cited as "wire rooms" for stateside bookmaking. It is unclear if the arrests will affect BetOnline's ability to send post-up player's their funds. SBR will investigate further and monitor BetOnline's progress in sending what is expected to be a surge in withdrawals.
